Its the smartest thing he could of done for his future and his parents. Let's be real ain't no 19 year old on the planet investing a 500k lotto winning. If he keeps it he drops out of his school and blows it in 5-7 years. His parents will most likely pay off the mortgage and his school tuition. He gets to live a normal stress free life with no student loans and in 15-20 years once his parent's pass away he inheritance a 200-400k house.
