I nearly shed a tear reading this Shakespeare like writing. :brutuswow:
Should have bumped this on Saturday depending on what happens. I'm a UM grad, I was raised in Ann Arbor for a few years, my dad is an alum, etc. There is no bigger group of elitist fans in college sports than Michigan football fans. Maybe you could argue Duke basketball fans win this, but at least they've been consistently excellent and successful in terms of actually winning titles.
I was listening to the radio today and dudes were calling in bragging about the revenue the football program has brought in under Harbaugh. Name another program that would have stans say something like that. I've said it for awhile, Harbaugh is like Lloyd Carr in the sense that fans are content to win 8-10 games a year and have some national relevance. That matters more than actual titles, beating OSU, and winning the Big Ten now. Eventually people turned on Carr but Harbaugh is going to always be able to sell these people dreams. The recruiting will always be great, the local media will always write about some random overrated 5 star recruit like he's the next Charles Woodson/Brady/etc, Harbaugh will always say crazy things that make ESPN talk about the program, etc. That's what these people want. Harbaugh is never gonna feel the wrath, because if you run him out of town the fear is that you become....Tennessee, or FSU, or ND before Kelly "saved" the day.
Harbaugh can win 8-10 games a year for the next 5 years, not win a Big Ten title, and people won't run him out of town. You got brehs STILL making comparisons to Clemson in terms of how it took a few years for Dabo to start winning games that matter lol. Because at the end of the day the national esteem/attention he brings the program matters more than results.
Literally laughed out loud. Hahaha
I'm not taking any joy in this, although I can't stand Harbaugh. Dude hasn't one a single thing as a college coach yet people act like he's Saban/Urban. Can Michigan find a coach as sexy or as perfect of a fit as Harbaugh? No. Can Michigan find a better coach than Harbaugh? Yes. If he resigned or was fired at the end of next season, there would be a variety of choices crawling over themselves for the job. And in terms of results...how hard is it to win 9 games at Michigan? The schedule bakes in at LEAST 7 wins a year. From that point all you have to do is beat the two Big Ten teams that are annually ranked 14-20 in the nation (Wisconsin, Iowa sometimes, MSU sometimes) and you're right at 9. You're gonna tell me Bob Stoops couldn't do that? Hell, Jimbo Fisher could do that lmao.
Only danger would be that hiring from outside the program would inevitably result in the Michigan Men donors/benefactors/alumni/boosters catching feelings. We saw what happened to Rich Rod. Not saying he was a good coach but it's a FACT that he was done dirty and had his hands tied. They wouldn't even let him pay the coordinators he wanted. Harbaugh is the type of guy they want...and he's the best Michigan Man available. If he fails you either get yourself another Brady Hoke clown, or hire outside and find the best coach money can buy. Period.
:umadduncan:First and foremost.. it’s fukk ALL y’all.
Now that we got that out the way..
My buddy’s a cowboy fan and he told me they wanted him to bulk up and play inside. If that’s true.. He’s a pass rushing specialist. The fukk you want him to bulk up for?
I posted about this in the Michigan thread. shyts disgustya. And it’s 100% true. The administration and athletic department is ok with 10 wins, and making that paper. Make no mistake.. Michigan is a top 3 university in terms of revenue. But that’s what it’s all about? Really? It takes a lot of the joy out of being a fan.
But.. you rep the dolphins
I swear to god.. the fan base acts like Harbaugh’s the end all be all. Like, if he were to dip.. we’d have to scrap the football program.
fukkin hate this fan base sometimes.

Moeller won the Big Ten 3 times in a room, winning 9-10 games. Resigned after two 8-4 seasons (and an embarrassing public incident). And that was when teams played one less game than they do now.Now look at Gary Moeller & Lloyd Carr yearly records with more stacked rosters.
@Freddie.CaneYou rep miami, you would know all about being soft

Carr won the Big Ten multiple times and only had one year with under 8 wins. I think the "new normal" under Harbaugh is to win 8-10 games and not sniff the B10 title. The new normal under Bo-Carr was winning the B10 often but not coming close to winning a national chip.
