Society promotes ballers and rappers. Turn on TV on almost any channel, even so called "news" channels and fukkery and nonsense is promoted. In my opinion it's a little out of touch to act like kids are creating these ideas on their own.

bad parenting. No lie. Mark my words. When I "decide" to have children they will be f*cking geniuses.

They will have every single advantage in the world to succeed.

I'm about producing quality offspring, not quantity.

Most people aren't as educated at raising offspring as they think they are.

My kids won't even know what MTV or marijuana are until they're like 18, out of college.

My children's idol, will be me. A f*cking man. Not a follower of stupid fallacious trends, pop culture and a generation overstimulated individuals, who's brains have been rewired by facades of happiness.

Point blank, people in general need to do a better job of parenting...
especially during the sensitive period and early years of child development.

:heh: I didn't know PBS and NPR gave two sh*t about Gay-z and Beyonce are doing...

this isnt really about kids, this is about young adults and grown ass people trying to be ballers and rappers

and even if we take your assessment to be correct that its a general problem then obviously black people who care about black people like michelle should specifically tell black kids not to follow everybody else, by pushing black kids away from ballers and rappers that would give black kids an advantage

but the reality is that your assesment is not correct, what really happens is that kids may have immature dreams but because of a strong family structure and professional people as parents and role models by the time they are adults they would move away from immature dreams, and the opposite happens in the black community, that is why you see people in the black community still pursuing immature dreams even when they are not kids
Again this is not a racial thing, plenty of white young adults, Asians and everyone else have these same problems.

I have no problem with telling the kids not to follow in that in that crowd, but I think it's a little naive to expect them to change while she herself is still promoting "ballers"

im not sure what this is suppose to mean, Michelle obama was addressing the fact that kids are being pushed to being ballers and rappers, i dont know where you get the notion that she was saying kids are creating it on their own, how do yo get that from her speech? she was addressing college graduates and telling them they need to address the issue
"Don't throw stones......."

She's telling them to change an issue that she helped create. And next time she needs to get elected or get some public support she will have no problem joining up with "ballers" and the media that promotes them.

This sounds good, but once you have kids you'll realize it's not a realty. You can give them all the guidance in the world, but society will still have an influence on them. Believe me they will know what weed and MTV are well before they're 18 unless you lock them in the basement or something.

The bolded is the damn truth and the most important thing. They need to learn to be individuals and leaders and the only way to do that is to learn it from their parents. Too bad most parents are just grown up dummies:snoop:

:ohh: that's not a bad idea

Best believe striking a balance is important, but there are ways around things.

I've come to like private schools as in recent years. After being a product of both public and private institutions the difference is astounding.

But there's a real advantage being held by students who attend these establishments. They learn what to study, how to study and participate in totally different extra-curriculum activities that can indirectly expand cognitive abilities. Things like playing an instrument or the piano go a long way toward building character and success.

The piano has been linked numerous times, to the strengthening of white matter(i believe) which responsible for further strengthening synapses between the brain and spinal cord(CNS).

Thus these individual they generate different interest, than their inner city counterparts and are more aped to learning. As you mentioned earlier, the environment greatly shapes and determines the path for numerous individuals; thus the urgency to make sure your offspring are around other influential successful individuals. (not everyone is like-minded in the sense of doing "big things" in life)

Cats who are the exceptions from inner city slums, really are genetically gifted. Environmental factors surely are working against them succeeding compared, to individuals whom have essentially been groomed from the womb into success.

The Obama's are the biggest fukking hypocrites out here. How often have these c00ns went to the hood and spoke to families in the community? How often have these two clowns, praised and shined a spot light on prominent, positive black leaders in the community? Hell, members of the congressional black caucus aren't even allowed to set foot near the nikka, god forbid a photographer happen to accidentally capture one of them in a picture with Obama. But no, instead they make it a point to hang out with a high school dropout and a ex-drug dealer king pin. Its disgusting. They won't go and visit the black leasers at the NAACP convention, but they'll be sure to carve out an appointment for Jay Z at the 40/40 club. Thereby legitimizing the claim that being a "baller" is the way to go, because you can hang with the fukking president! Because the president sure isn't hanging around the poor folk!

These guys have done everything in their power to ignore the black community, yet when they do decide to speak to the "black people" in America, its some fukking patronizing lecture about why were fukking up. She nor her husband surprisingly never have anything to say bad to say about other groups though. Nope, because in their eyes those groups are perfect. Its only the black people that need to be lectured to, over and over again, on the national stage. And it won't matter anyways. Black folk already used to being abused and humiliated in public, so I'm sure they'll take it in stride.

Its disgusting and I'm sick of it. Instead of these insulting lectures, why won't she work to help stabilize the black family? Like removing mandatory minimums and working to decriminalize drugs. Those two moves alone could do wonders for stabilizing the family unit. But im sure its much easier to act as a gutter snipe and make snide comments about blacks from the comforts of the white house.

:pacspit:

:what: :russ: @ reducing jail time & allowing nikkas to sell dope in the hood being the keys to stabilizing the black community..

It is a racial thing because the breakdown of the family is a bigger problem in the black community than in other communities and the whole notion that Michelle Obama is promoting ballers is just a lie

Not true at all. If anything black people are moving in the right direction in that regard while other races are getting worse.

And yes she is promoting "ballers" the lady said if she could be anyone else it would be Beyonce. Not a scientist, not an engineer, but beyonce. Even if a little girl didn't know who beyonce was, if she saw that the First Lady looks up to her so much the little girl might be inclined to do so herself. Mrs. Obama parades around on TV on the same shows that promote the nonsense to our kids. She partners with the media and P Diddy so her husband can get realected. If she wants to reject the idea of ballers, than she should reject the idea of placing them front and center in her campaign endeavors.

What makes you think blacks are moving in the right direction and other races aren't?

I don't buy the whole beyonce is a baller thing, that's just some shyt y'all are pulling out your ass in desperation, just stick to the jay-z example and you may have some kinda point, but the beyonce example is laughable

Black people prison, drug, poverty rates are going down. Economic/educational acheivment is going up.

White people are going in the opposite direction.

How is that pulling it out of my ass. Little girls with immature dreams of being "ballers and rappers" want to be like beyonce, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus ect. What do you think she ment by the "baller and rapper" line?

Lol, I think you are cherry picking stats to make a statement like that

My point about beyonce is that the obama's meet and hang out with a million people, the full extent of Michelle and barracks affiliations, statements and actions do not add up to telling kids to be ballers and rappers, it's quite the opposite

Not cherry picking anything. Those that say "the black family structure is breaking down" are the ones cherry picking stats.

My point about beyonce is that the obama's meet and hang out with a million people, the full extent of Michelle and barracks affiliations, statements and actions do not add up to telling kids to be ballers and rappers, it's quite the opposite
They are not telling them to be ballers and rappers. But they are SHOWING them that ballers and rappers are respectable enough to hang out with the president. Kids follow actions, not words.

I think you are being totaly hypocritical on the issue. On one hand you run around talking about how bad rap is for kids and black people in general. Yet you have no problem with the American presidency forming strong relationships with rappers.:mindblown:
