Michael Jackson told how he feared bitter rival Prince would die prematurely in a string of jealous rants secretly recorded three decades ago.
The King of Pop said he was worried the singer may kill himself.
But he also branded Prince , who died of a painkiller overdose in April, mean, nasty and rude.
The Mirror can reveal for the first time the contents of the tapes, recorded for his autobiography Moonwalker in 1988. The full extracts on Prince have never been printed before.
He said: “I don’t like to be compared to Prince at all.
“I have proven myself since I was real little. It’s not fair. He feels like I’m his opponent. I hope he changes because boy, he’s gonna get hurt. He’s the type that might commit suicide or something.

Bitter Jacko, who died seven years ago today from an anaesthetic overdose, also mocked Prince’s bungled appearance at a 1983 James Brown tribute show in Los Angeles. The Purple Rain star mistook a paper mache stage lamppost for a real one and fell into the crowd. Jackson sneered: “He made a fool of himself. He was a joke.
“People were running and screaming. I was so embarrassed. It was all on video.”

He claimed Prince was “starstruck” when the pair first met but changed after he found fame.
In the tapes, Jacko also directed his venom at his family.
He labelled brothers Randy “hardheaded”, Jackie “negative” and Jermaine “talented but lacking self-confidence”.
The singer claimed sister LaToya’s behaviour was weird, moaned Janet was a tomboy and said he loathed his emotionless dad Joe.
