Maybe the heat didn’t have any players or picks the nets wanted. If it was an owner thing, that’s Arison and not Riley. I went over the Dame stuff. Joe Cronin’s top priority was to trade him anywhere but Miami. He wasn’t even willing to entertain any talks that didn’t include Jimmy or Bam which would’ve put both teams on what Riley calls the treadmill of mediocrity which would’ve made any trade a waste of time for both of them. He just simply wasn’t willing to trade him to the Heat at the end of the day unless the Heat gave up so much for him that the deal would hurt them. They could’ve gone after Kyrie, but he was available at the point where he was bringing the most baggage. My stance when Har_en was available was to stay the hell away from him.
The roster is a good enough supporting cast for a legit top guy, but a lot of all star caliber guys who become available aren’t genuine #1 scorer type players you need to build a real contender.
Nets were going to trade KD where he wanted to go, you can say it was a thank you for not being a full weirdo like Kyrie. I fully believe had Miami came correct they would've got a deal done for KD. It might've gone further than he's shown he wants to go but he could've been there. But that's not what happened. Instead it's a coulda, woulda just like too many of these are for Miami which is my point.
The Portland situation, Miami wasn't trying to negotiate in good faith and the Blazers got spiteful. That's what I mean by coming correct and how Riley has a bit of Ainge in him. If all that about how hard it is to get players in can be true like you said, you can't let multiple players slip past. What you're saying makes all the sense in the world but I'm sorry, I'm not accepting any bail because all it takes is landing one and they're on different ground right now.
He's supposed to be the Godfather, he's supposed to be a top GM with a top coach and a place where players want to be. He's supposed to be the deal maker. Instead only power he's shown is putting down his own player then refusing to trade him. I have no doubt Jimmy's a dikk, that doesn't mean Riley should be doing this shyt anymore and his mouth isn't what lead to all this. I've never seen a GM, owner, or coach in any sport do what he did
