I haven't posted much in this thread because quite frankly if we can't find a way to get Justise...I don't care who we end up with :sadheats:

I just know they better re-sign Flash and get back to being a happy family again :sadheats:

Im not saying pay Wade $20M. I'm sure $15M-$17M is more than fair.

Yeah Wade's camp leaked out that he would welcome $20M but he probably saying this in hoPes of getting about $15M to $17M. Remember people tipically set the price high and meet in the middle.

But it almost looks like Riley doesnt even wanna give him $15M after next year. Riley wants him to stay with the current contract which pays him $16M next year and then take a much smaller 1 year deal after depending on that they can fit under the cap. Because as it stands Riley cant go over the cap to resign WhiteSide.

If the Heat is over the cap when Whiteside is a free agent all they could offer him is $6M, period. Wade knows if he doesnt get his money now he will likely not get it next year when Whiteside gets paid and forget it if we are able to bring in another big name.

Really? :dwillhuh:

The Heat has said they'd rather he stay with the current contract which pays him $16M next year.

It's Wade that's opting out.

And yes the Heat do not own Whiteside s full bird-rights so they can't go over the cap to resign him

Dragic is a top ten PG. He had an awkward year with the Suns and all their PGs but the dude is one of the best finishers, in the league, at the rim and is one of the best pnr players in the league.

Dude is a season removed from scoring 20 PPG on 50% shooting. He's pretty great at everything you want your PG to be good at in today's league.

The problem isn't this year, it's the year after where they're telling him 10 million.

Wade's not taking 10 mil in a 89 mil cap or the next year 109 mil cap. I don't think he wants 20 mil, but he doesn't want what will be MLE money either.

I explained that in the year post before that

If I have to stand alone on this I'll do so, I've held back on commenting several times the past few weeks but I'm done giving Wade a pass. If I'm Riley I'm not doing anything to jeopardize being able to retain Whiteside next offseason. Give Wade a fair offer (I'm thinking 15-17 a yr/max), if he doesnt want it then fine. At the end of the day he had the option to make 20 mil the next 2 years and his loyalty to his friend over his team cost him. Now after sitting out 20 games (half of them he very well could have played) he wants the big payday :mjlol: If LeBron last summer did half the shyt Wade has been doing this past month with regards to social media everyone in here would want him in the bushes. Having your wife and kids do your bidding on twitter and snapchat, you posting subliminal messages on instagram..that's just corny and it speaks to the kind of guy Wade has become.

THIS doesnt come around everyday and I think the sky is the limit for him

I think there is correlation between Wade's recent behavior and him marring Gabby. Just saying

By this time next week the speculation will be over and fans will know the identity of the Miami Heat's two draft picks. Last year saw the Heat make a draft night trade so the #10 and #40 picks are not a lock to be on the roster, but let's assume the Heat keep these two picks.

There is no consensus for the #10 pick among writers in 2015 NBA mock draft, which makes the pick itself intriguing. Let's do a last minute round-up of possible selections mentioned on the internet. I'll use #9 to #13 choices, because Heat could potentially pick anyone who has not been taken off the table before them.

DraftExpress
#9 Devin Booker, #10 Stanley Johnson (SF), #11 Myles Turner, #12 Frank Kaminsky, #13 Trey Lyles

Yahoo! Sports
#9 Devin Booker, #10 Stanley Johnson (SF), #11 Myles Turner, #12 Frank Kaminsky, #13 Trey Lyles

Sun-Sentinel - Ira Winderman
#9 Devin Booker, #10 Stanley Johnson (SF), #11 Willie Cauley-Stein, #12 Frank Kaminsky, #13 Myles Turner

ESPN - Chad Ford
#9 Devin Booker, #10 Stanley Johnson (SF), #11 Myles Turner, #12 Frank Kaminsky, #13 Trey Lyles

CBS Sports - Zach Harper
#9 Willie Cauley-Stein, #10 Kelly Oubre (SF), #11 Cameron Payne, #12 Myles Turner, #13 Frank Kaminsky

CBS Sports - Gary Parrish
#9 Frank Kaminsky, #10 Devin Booker (SG), #11 Cameron Payne, #12 Stanley Johnson, #13 Myles Turner

CBS Sports - Sam Vecenie
#9 Kevon Looney, #10 Myles Turner (C), #11 Kelly Oubre, Jr., #12 Frank Kaminsky, #13 Montrez Harrell

The Big Lead
#9 Devin Booker, #10 Stanley Johnson (SF), #11 Mario Hezonja, #12 Sam Dekker, #13 Justin Anderson

Basketball Insiders
#9 Willie Cauley-Stein, #10 Devin Booker (SG), #11 Cameron Payne, #12 Sam Dekker, #13 Myles Turner

NBAdraftdotnet
#9 Cameron Payne, #10 Stanley Johnson (SF), #11 Willie Cauley-Stein, #12 Myles Turner, #13 Devin Booker

NBA - Scott Howard Cooper
#9 Stanley Johnson, #10 Myles Turner (C), #11 Cameron Payne, #12 Trey Lyles, #13 Frank Kaminsky

Of the eleven experts, six of them chose Stanley Johnson as the the overwhelming favorite for the Heat's #10 pick. Next in line are Devin Booker and Myles Turner at two choices each, and Kelly Oubre with one vote.

Other players who may be available include Frank Kaminsky, Trey Lyles, Cameron Payne, Sam Dekker, Willie Cauley-Stein, Mario Hezonja (a long-shot), Justin Anderson, Montrez Harrell.

Remember Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow? Domination at the amateur level doesn't always guarantee success in the pros. The cases for Stanley Johnson, Devin Booker, Myles Turner, Mario Hezonja are all compelling, but will they turn into a Dwayne Wade or a Michael Beasley? The Heat may play it safe in the first round with Stanley Johnson, but gamble on their second round pick to find a Hassan Whiteside or Draymond Green.

The Miami Heat future draft picks past this year are very slim: none in the 2016 first-round or second-round, one in the 2017 first-round, one in the 2018 second-round, one in the 2019 first-round, one in the 2020 first-round and second round each, one in the 2021 second round. Nothing at all next year, and 2020 will be the next time Heat have two draft picks. The 2015 picks will have to go a long way in determining the Heat's future, because of the limited help from the draft for 6 years. They need to nail it on Thursday. :heh:

The Heat have to make room on the roster for the one or two rookies. Who will be dropped from the current team? That's another tough choice the coaches and management have to make. Chris Andersen is an iconic figure in Miami. Dwayne Wade has a no-trade clause. Even though they are seasoned veterans, their loyal followers may not latch on to the newcomers with the same passion. Hassan Whiteside and Goran Dragic seem like locks. The rest of the team have been good soldiers, so letting any of them go is never easy.

The Heat will be committed to paying the #10 draft pick $2 million in 2015, which is more than the minimum veteran salary of $1.5 million of a player like Carlos Boozer. Essentially the Heat will have a high-priced starting four supported by low-paid help. Because of that the 2015 picks may need to contribute to the team's success sooner rather than later.

Experts debate on whether the Heat should pick for talent or need. Depending on availability, have your say on who would help the Heat next season.

We definitely have to make this draft count.

white side has that Unguaranteed ass deal if he had full bird years it would be different isn't the most he he could get with the bird exception 6 mill so the team requires cap space to keep him? wouldn't it make more since to just pay the Man Wade and than trade Luol if he opts in and let him go next season rather than low ball Wade?

Wade is the team...he's on his last leg but he should receive a loyalty contract because the squad set there and let him opt out so they could sign Josh Mcroberts if they knew Lebron wasn't coming back they wouldn't of signed guys like that and Wade wouldn't of opted out...Luckily Bosh had a max offer from the Rockets.

Stanley Johnson Reportedly Refused to Work Out for Charlotte, Hopes to Get Picked by Detroit or Miami
  • By Brad Sullivan

    • Updated: June 19, 2015
    sjohnson-e1434760378169.jpg

Depending on what takes place in the first round of the 2015 NBA Draft next Thursday night, the Miami Heat may now be in a better position to select University of Arizona forward Stanley Johnson.

That’s because according to a tweet from Jonathan Givony of Draft Express, Johnson allegedly refused to work out for the Charlotte Hornets. What makes Johnson’s action intriguing for Miami is that he supposedly did it in order to be selected by either the Detroit Pistons, who have the #8 selection, or the Heat.

Johnson, who is 6’7″ and weighs 245 and only turned 19 last month, was the PAC-12 Freshman of the Year for the Wildcats, who reached the Elite Eight. During his lone season at the school, Johnson averaged 13.8 points per game and grabbed 6.5 rebounds per game, though he did struggle during the NCAA Tournament.

Those offensive numbers are expected to improve during the course of his NBA career, while his defensive prowess just needs a few more tweaks. Those qualities, as well as his impressive wingspan are the main reason that he’s a virtual lock to be a lottery selection.

Of course, should the Pistons select Johnson, this entire issue becomes a moot point. However, if they look elsewhere, that puts him in prime position to join the Heat, with an ESPN mock draft just yesterday doing just that.

Miami definitely needs to be prepared in the event that Luol Deng leaves during the free agency period that begins on July 1. The team’s frontline needs some replenishment, and Johnson could be just the ticket.

ESPNviaBleacherReports said:

Heat to Offer Dragic Long-Term Deal
Saturday, June 20

ESPN's Marc Stein reported that the Heat are preparing to offer Dragic a five-year deal worth more than$80 million to stay in Miami. Stein reported that while the Heat could theoretically offer Dragic a deal worth up to $100 million over five years, the impending free agency of Dwyane Wade and Luol Deng could impact how much they're willing to spend.

On May 24, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reported Dragic "feels strongly" that the Heat need to increase their pace next season. An associate of the former All-NBA guard says he's received "assurances" from team brass—most notably president Pat Riley and head coach Erik Spoelstra—that Miami will make those changes.

Dragic, 29, will be an unrestricted free agent in July. He split last season between Phoenix and Miami, averaging 16.3 points, 4.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game. Those numbers were a stark downturn from his breakout 2013-14 campaign, where he earned third-team All-NBA and Most Improved Player honors.

Dragic's dissatisfaction with the Heat's pace is no surprise given his success in Phoenix's go-go style. Miami played with the NBA's second-slowest pace last season, faster than only the Utah Jazz. By contrast, the Suns played at the league's third-fastest pace.

The Heat ramping up the number of their offensive possessions would be an interesting change given their roster composition. Dwyane Wade is essentially a part-time player due to chronic knee problems, Chris Bosh is coming back from a scary blood clot situation and the majority of Miami's roster was put together under the guise of a slower style. Hassan Whiteside and Shabazz Napier are the Heat's only foundational players under the age of 28.
That doesn't exactly portend well to a go-go style. Bosh and Josh McRoberts have the pick-and-pop chops to make it happen, but Wade will turn 34 next season; his game and health benefit from a more deliberate pace.

Given the swift nature of Dragic's departure from Phoenix, it'll be interesting to see how his free agency plays out.
