Mexico City has a huge basketball fanbase, makes sense.

It's also a city of near 9 million with a metropolitan population of over 20 million. NYC numbers. Even a piss poor interest in basketball can comfortably sell out half the home games with those numbers.

Still can't see a team there tho for some reason

There should be 0 teams outside of US/Canada. No player is trying to spend his time in Mexico. I get that there is a huge fanbase, but NBA can maybe send more teams for games there/China and across the world..which would be cool, but as far as an actual team, it's just stupid. Seattle deserves a team more than any place/

Vancouver never had a chance. NBA teams screwed both the Raptors and Grizzlies by not letting them have a chance at the 1st overall pick because of the Magic's early success with Penny and Shaq. Raptors survived because of Vince Carter. Vancouver had horrible management and players like Steve Francis not wanting to play there. Plus Michael Heisley bought the team and lied about keeping them in Vancouver.

Vancouver could be another gateway into the Asian market for the NBA.

Nah fam. That's a cop out. Check those figures. They managed at most 17k attendance their first year and that shyt plummeted to like 14k the next few seasons before they relocated. That's well before the arrival of VC. They were garbage drafters and as a franchise they straight up couldn't compete their first 4 years I get that (and they were shafted out of good prospects like Rasheed and so on) but on their final year they were clearly showing signs of progress. And that was one of the worst attendance records in league history.

They're presently a smaller market than both Montreal and Calgary and they are currently barely top 20 in league attendance in the NHL the one sport Canadians care for.

Garbage sports market.

Vancouver doesn't deserve another chance at an NBA Franchise. I'd rather see other Canadian cities get their first crack like Calgary and Montreal before BC gets a team. Horrific attendance when the grizzlies were there from what I remember.

wrong

secondly the cdn dollar was weak as hell, and it was only dumb ass michael heisley why the grizz left

montreal language barrier, calgary cacville. Vancouver is dripping $$, have a nba ready arena, one of th best cities to live in, close to the states, 3 hour plane ride to LA, those van/portland/seattle battles

yeah van/toronto i think were banned for like 2 years from getting the number 1 pick, thus missing out on iverson.

95 draft as two expansion teams they were givin the 6th and 7th pick could have had a mcdyess, stackhouse, wallace or garnett

an asian billionaire living in vancouver would be the perfect owner
