 they do play the Lakers tough for some reason :mindblown:

But in all seriousness, I've thought for a while now that 72-10 might never be broken. Most players just aren't mentally built like that anymore.

Honestly, if a team like the Spurs or Mavs played in the East they could probably break it.

If the record does ever get broken it'll be by an Eastern conference team.

Does anybody know yet if Peace is still the starting 3 or are they gonna run him as 6th man and put Jamison out there?

Artest is gonna be starting for sure, and he is the best perimeter defender on the squad and still is a really good defender too. Lakers tried him as a 6th man and it was a terrible experiment. And Jamison is too old and slow to play the 3 these days and is perfectly suited to play the 4 late in his career now and is a really good scorer still even though he is old now.

Also by all accounts Metta is healthy and in great shape this season. Last year he started to play his best when he was healthy and in better shape.

He's the 1b to Kobe's 1a as far as being best perimeter defender on the team.

No, he's 1a

Kobe doesn't consistently play great defense. He's capable of it, but he simply doesn't do it. With more offensive support we might hopefully see Kobe play D more consistently.

^Dwight also said that Metta is in the best shape in his life. That's really good news because last year after the lockout ended Metta was so out of shape, to the point he couldn't even start. It took him until a little before the playoffs to actually be effective defensively again.

Gotdamnit Ron, shut up. No need to give these Laker haters more to talk about.

Just let 'em be amazed when it happens. :takedat:

Maybe if Howard started the season, but if he doesn't, I'll settle for 66 wins.

nah. let him talk. i'm tired of these turds acting like we dont run the NBA. silly ass clowns done forget there place. Lakers run shyt.

Yeah i can agree with you about him not consistently committing on defense. But in terms of capability when it comes to guarding smaller guards I'd give Kobe the edge. But him not committing is understandable considering at the age of 33 he had the biggest offensive responsibility on the team. Hopefully this year he can have a more balanced approach with the new offensive weapons the lakers have.

if they were in east they might have a shot at that record. but cmon son.they would have to sweep the season series against teams like the Thunder, Clippers, Spurs, Grizz, Nuggets.

They could prolly sweep the Jazz and maybe the mavs if they play like they did last year. but i see at least 5 losses just from last years playoff teams. add that to losses they take on the road against eastern conference teams like Heat and Celtics
plus incendental losses due to back to backs and injuries(old squad) + off days. i don't see anyway they could do any better the 18 losses next season. And that's being generous.
