This game has pretty much taken over my free time dope RPG

Right now I'm in the castle chasing around that guy who was kidnapping kids (Morris I think). Between this and Final Fantasy it's been the best year for JRPGs in a minute.

I do wonder what the point of these Kingly Virtues is though. Thought maybe I'd get a new ability or something when I got everything up to Level 2 but nope. Maybe I missed it but I don't really remember the game telling you what those actually do.

I do wonder what the point of these Kingly Virtues is though. Thought maybe I'd get a new ability or something when I got everything up to Level 2 but nope. Maybe I missed it but I don't really remember the game telling you what those actually do.

They lock you out of advancing the followers until you reach a certain level. You end up having to max them all out. It's not really an issue because at the end of the game you get a whole free month before the final boss to finish off virtues and followers. I ended up with 10 days I had to burn.

this is atlus's best written jrpg ive played. Persona is great but there are constraints in regards to the setting always being modern day society, adhering to various anime/manga cliches, and certain character archetypes... etc etc

their writers really flexed their muscles with the follower and main cast character writing.

it's kinda crazy that the core gameplay of shin megami tensei is now split into three seperate successful franchises. shin megami being the apocalyptic larger than life gods and demons story. persona being modern day society and its ills and leaning more towards anime sensibilities. To metaphor and a more fantasy centered discussion around classism and racism

Just infiltrated Louis' room. I'm curious as to what the deal is with the Elda, so far the story hasn't really explained why they're hated.

Persona is one of my favorite series of all time but sadly metaphor did kinda expose Persona's flaws. But I still think P6 is going to trump P5.

I feel the opposite. Palaces in P5 felt unique and even the worst designed ones (bum ass space station) at least had variety compared to the Metaphor dungeons.

And like somebody said on an earlier page the enemy variety wasn't there likely because they had to render them in the overworld combat.

Still a 9/10 game about even with Wukong on the year for me. This ended up being slick better than 2023

That's end game stuff. The game doesn't have an overly complex plot so it's likely the reason you think it is.

Alonzo is the best follower story.

Is it just me or is this game a little stingy with MP?

I really hate making it to the dungeon boss and most of my characters are low on MP, so I have to either hope for the best or waste a day going back to the Inn. Sure there are some MP restoring items but they're stingy with them and don't let you buy too many.

Nah they're tight with MP until you start filling out your party with followers. Get some physical skills onto your party so you aren't hitting with MP abilities all the time

And have someone equipped with first aid to offset that hp loss

Finished this last night at 97 hrs . I got this tied with P5 Royal with a decent chance of it going down as my all time favorite over time. I really liked the philosophical and meta themes
