In terms of gameplay I feel they fixed a lot of problems from Persona. I liked the story and cast of Persona 5 Royal better.
This game is probably half to 2/3rds the length of Persona 5 Royal and some characters get crammed into the party fairly late game.
In the Persona game it feels like a bunch of friends hanging out. The party in this game don't feel like friends really. They're united in a common goal but they don't really have or build any relationships with each other. Each individual does with the main character but not the other party members.
I hope Atlus fully drops the silent protagonist thing and gives their next protagonist a clearly defined personality. This one isn't totally silent but he only really says the dialog options you're given and there are whole cutscenes where someone like Strohl speaks on his behalf. I want a MC like Van from Kiseki.
Hopefully Persona 6 takes all the fixes to the gameplay and game mechanics and integrates them. The calendar system is far better and more relaxed in this game.
