Menace To Society is a better movie than Boyz N The Hood

I gotta disagree. IMO Menace To Society is poorly written; the internal dialogue of the main character just sounds so cheesy to me. I'm not denying it's a decent movie, it just feels so generic at times...

Boyz N The Hood is a great film on all levels though. The only thing that hasn't aged well is the cheesy ass original score, thanks to those saxophones lmao. You can tell Menace To Society and subsequent films were trying their hardest to replicate Boyz N The Hood, and it rarely worked as effectively.

MTS had its moments,
Overall BITH is better in every way.
Caine stealing wheels and riding through the park on a sunday to a BBQ blasting Computer Love>>>>>>>>Bloods deep in a car pulling out a Shoddy blasting Issac Hayes and scaring Tre sh!tless.
Tre Smashing Nia Long>>>>>>Caine smashing a whore :ld:
Isaac Hayes? :what:

Well yea MTS was more violent, but maybe it had something to do with the areas of the movies. BNTH was shot in westside south central i believe and was posed to take place in that area. MTS was posed to take place in the projects, in wa tts basically the worst area of LA even til this day.

i think clockers is on the same level as both of these movies.

Spike Lee and Martin Scorcese? gtofh. imagine goodfellas meets do the right thing
they combine and it almost comes off like the wire. actually i heard the writers of the wire were inspired by clockers in addition to real life when filming their series.

beware though some of spike lee's filming style is very 90's and 80's. dated a lil bit. but great non the less. you can see scorcese's fingerprint on it as well.

The wire writer says clockers was his main inspiration for writing the series.

Nope, "Boyz in the Hood" had better writing, better direction and a better cast. "Menace" is still Classic but it's clear that the Hughes Bros just made a more "Violent" "Boyz in the Hood". I think "Dead Presidents" is their best film. "Boyz in the Hood" is the blueprint and one of the greatest movies of all time and the greatest hood movie of all time. Also more people were emotionally hurt when Ricky got shot. With that said, Both "Sorry for your Mother" and Bill Duke's scene's was Epic:

I still think this is one of the saddest scenes in movie history (this >> Ricky getting shot)

That music + "You still got one brother left, man" & "The next day Doughboy saw his brother buried...Two weeks later he was murdered" + Doughboy walking away and disappearing :wow:

Cube's best role

shyt. I can't even lie. Watching Cain get gunned down was the first time I cried watching a movie. Ricky's shyt was sad but Ricky was kind of dikk. I was sadder at their moms turning on Dough after it.
