Societal changes have made men less viable as long term partners :manny:

Bad economy means more men are broke and thus unattractive :manny:

Also guys have less masculine energy thanks to the changing world (more office jobs, more urbanization, technology, changing cultural norms), and thus are unattractive :manny:

But what happens when mama is dead and gone?

I’m currently talking to a guy friend about a similar situation with the young man I’m working with who was homeless. The lack of real life skills is such a hurdle to overcome. Just stuff as simple as maintaining a bank account without over drafting it.

Or the simple connection between staying on a job for 40hrs per week, so that every two weeks you can have enough to pay bills is a MAJOR life skill that a lotta people haven’t encountered yet b/c their parents do EVERYTHING for them.

But when it’s time to stand on your own two feet and maintain your own car note, house note, car insurance, utilities, bills…what then? What’s the plan?

I know so many parents right now damn near working harder than their “children” who are grown adults, just so they can have privileges. And a lot of these types (male and female btw) aren’t even helping their parents. It blows my mind b/c I’ve been working since I was 16 so that I could retire my mom and dad.
Even now I get angry if my mom pulls out her card for anything.

If I don’t have it, I go and work another job. It’s that simple.
But that work ethic is escaping a lot of the younger generations. And it’s gonna be hard to try and establish a family or maintain a relationship if you don’t have that go get it attitude and that resilience.

I blame shytty education system, economy and no real training for job market or marketable skills. K-12 is setting our nation’s youth up for failure.

I blame online dating :yeshrug:
Ngl, as a single well to do man, this is definitely one of the reasons :pachaha:

that, sexual liberation of women, taking longer to get established in general and just the erosion of societal norms and gender roles have me chilling on marriage.

Ummm.. the whole notion about having a partner is better for fortune and promotes growth/looking towards a future is true.

When i was in a relationship, I had something to live for; felt like there was a paternal purpose in my life and I wanted to love/nurture the girl and have a family with her.

Now I'm back to my old ways, spending exorbitantly and drinking/driving drunk every weekend in the godzilla; prolly gonna go out like James Dean/Paul Walker.

It's a shame... but I control my destiny.

And I'm going out with a bang.

If i dies... I dies....

A partner.....not just any partner. That's been the problem.

It became very clear to me that any problems I had around being social and having relationships had a ton to do with how poor I was growing up and into my mid-20s. That shyt changed immediately once I started earning some actual money.

It was really just the confidence to live how I wanted but it's hard to be broke and confident.
