I don't even think he's talking about how much Lin is getting paid. I think it has more to do with how the contract is set up. The $10,000 raise in the third year, just to put the knicks in a horrible financial situation. It IS rediculous. And if Lin really WANTED to play for the knicks, he wouldn't have put them in that predicament...Lin could have have just went back to NY and asked for the original 4 year contract after Houston tried to pull the contract thing.

It seems clear to me that for some reason Lin didn't really want to be back, because the deal essentially made it impossible for the knicks to retain him

true cuz nikkaz USUALLY want more years in the contract over more money

If its ego why has Melo been saying he wants lin back in the last few interviews, when he could have easily just said some bullshyt like " at the end of the day whatever happens happens"?

You may have a point. But then again, I'm a Nuggets fan, and I've seen Melo say one thing in interviews and then it comes out later that it was another way.

If it's ego why did Melo have no problem with lin having the rock before he got hurt, melo avg 14 shots a game til lin and stat got hurt....why did he have no problem with that reduced role..if its his ego?

Melo ain't have a problem because they was losing. These nikkas was 8-13. Melo shooting at volume wasn't working. Insert Lin: get a W against the Nets. Melo gets injured the next game, and Manhattan wins, anyway. They keep winning until Amare, and then Melo get back. Melo needs the ball. He needs to put up shots. That nikka enjoys being the man. Lin was digging into his game. Just my theory. I don't think they played well together and some of that was ego.
