Melle Mel defends Fat Joe while addressing who started Hip-Hop: Black Americans or Puerto Ricans, and says, "Hip-hop culture is Bronx culture."

Many of the earliest jazz standards were classical European music. Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, John Coltrane were heavily influenced by classical music and music theory. Kind Of Blue is modal chords and changed how music in this country while being heavily influenced by classical theory.

There’s a clear point here. While brain dead internet people fight over this stuff in the present, black artists were taking inspiration from everything in the past. Whether it was classical music or Jamaican music or whatever…black Americans have always melded shyt together to create new shyt.
These are not early Jazz musicians. Jazz came out of the 1890s-early 1900s from combining Blues Gospel and Ragtime

I broke it down in depth. Because that individual was spreading boldface lies.

“Murda mo, nikkas, gone kill some more
(nikka, you never know when you gone die)
Murda mo, nikkas, gone kill some more
(Say never know when it could be you)”

“We got to ride for this nikka
On them old hoe ass nikkas”

They are avoiding this thread like the plaque.

First Slick Rick and Doug E Fresh and now Melle Mel.

Notice how the actual pioneers are the ones supporting Joe while people who have zero contribution to the culture say otherwise.

well, Slick Rick and Dougie fresh or Caribbean so you can exclude them from this conversation
as far as Melle Mel goes , he clearly was paid or asked if he can defend Fat Joe due to all the outlash he’s been receiving

:mjlol: Ja Rule was on that stage too and he's FBA, I just didn't mention him, so the statement still stands .

And LOL @ you saying Mel got paid with no proof, just made up speculation. The plea copping in this thread is gut busting hilarious. :laff: Thanks for the laugh.

Tariq is crying about Cholly Rock calling him out for being divisive. Tariq went as far as hinting that Cholly has dementia :mjlol:

Tariq even admits to the contradictions among the old heads that I pointed out. But he's only doing it now because it isn't co signing his version of things. :sas1:

KRS, Melle Mel, Fat Joe, Cholly Rock....None of the actual Hip Hop legends are co signing Tariqs diaspora war bullshyt. Tariq copping pleas making up stories about Fat Joe running to Mel for help. You can tell Tariq is tight at Mel making that video. :heh:

It's obvious that Cholly Rock and Mel who were on Microphone Check are now flipping on Tariq because they caught on after the fact of Tariqs personal diaspora war. No one who reps Hip Hop can co sign that racist bullshyt against non FBAs Tariq has been on for the past 5 years.

Mel has made several contradicting claims, you dumbo. In previous statements he mentioned that there was other MC’s before him. In his latest interview he claimed to be the first MC. That is why he’s contracting himself.

Melle Mel says Rapping came from DJ Hollywood and his scene, not Herc's scene.

“origin of rapping as we know in hiphop didn't come from the Herc scene but instead, Dj Hollywood and his scene which included the likes of LuvBug Starski and Eddie Cheeba”.

For this reason people, including myself suspect that he got paid. Because something is off about that part.

What Mel eventually did say was that the oldest rap groups are Black, with in one group a PR. Not sure where Obese Joe learned math, but that’s not 50/50. That’s 99% vs 1%. And even there it’s doubtful, since Pigmeat made “Here Comes The Judge” in 1968.

Furthermore he stated that he was a second generation B-Boy. He mentioned the generation before him, and these are Black Americans (FBA).

Also the “three pioneers” he mentioned, have been influenced by people before them, with Black American culture.

These three Mel mentioned didn’t pop out of nowhere doing things. Things gradually evolved.

Meanwhile you talking about Ja Rule, and start giggling like a 12 year old girl. But perhaps you are just that?

Ja Rule is 48, from Queens. Not once did I hear a scratch on one of his records, but I could be mistaken. Never seen an album with graffiti art on his covers. Never seen him break or do electric boogie, nor did he support it on his tours or in videos. Btw, Electric boogie is a West Coast style, which tells you that this culture is Black American culture.

Never heard Ja Rule beatbox, or had someone beatboxing on his records. But I could be wrong.

Fat Joe is not a hip hop legend, let’s get that first and foremost out of the way. He’s a racist spic, who loves to use the n-word. Even when Black people asked him to stop, he doubled down. A few rappers are not the consensus for Black people. I have shown the history of the words usage.

Secondly KRS was reprimanded by older B-Boys for making some false claims in the BX. KRS did apologize.

“Shout out to krs one for being humble enough to admit he made errors trying to teach Hip Hop History”

Lastly, KRS made South Bronx as a response to Shan and made Shan apologize in the mid-‘80s. That was a good move by KRS, but he took it too far with the “teacher” thing. On record he claimed to be a vegetarian, but was caught at Mc Donald eating a beef burger?

The things Tariq has done within recent years I don’t cosign, but I’ll be hellbent to defend a racist spic over Black Americans. That I’ll never do.

“Tariq” didn’t start 5 years ago, it was during or shortly after the pandemic. Meaning at most 4 years ago.

The things he says are harsh but hold truth in them. It’s not divisive necessarily. Although some of the things he claims are historically wrong, illogical and exaggerated.

Hip Hop is based on structures that developed in the Bronx. He’s right that the subculture is based on Black Americans dominant culture.

And the pioneers of Hip Hop are Black males, regardless where they came from. And not all Black immigrants are a detriment to Black Americans.

This whole 50/50 thing is ridiculous BS and divisive.

Slick Rick is one of the dopest MC’s, not sure if he create the style of story telling.

Dougie Fresh to my understanding did bring beatboxing to Hip Hop, at least he’s known for being the first. Other human beat boxers were out at the time, or around that time. But he was credited with being the first and nobody ever disputed that.

And yes, both have Afro-Caribbean heritage. We only found out about this recently. Before that there were just two Black guys, one from America and the other from the UK.

I always thought Buffy from the Fat Boys was considered the first human beat boxer

And I assume most people or real hip-hop heads knew SlickRick and Dougie Fresh were West Indians

What suggested this about Dougie Fresh? By recently I meant Dougie, not Slick Rick. Slick was part of a group the Kangol Crew, with Dana Dane.

Btw The Show was produced by Teddy Ridley.
