not arguing with you breh, just conversing. I'm not familiar with Tyler the creator at all, never dug his music so I guess I just don't understand their culture.

im not claiming to understand it and im surely not defending it, i think its an abomination, im just reporting my observations

their following is white kids and hipsters, and in their music they play off black stereotypes and shocking lyrics, that is their whole schtick

once you understand that, the commercial make sense

Ahh okay. What's funny is the more I think about it that's actually one of the reasons I never got into him, he kind of creeped me out or was just too weird for me.

i dont give a fuk if rap isnt the reason why, im tired of people suggesting that critiquing art is some kind of sin

how about this, i think rap music is garbage because i think rap music garbage period, all art isnt good, sometimes art is garbage and should labeled as such, regardless of what is going on i society

i could argue your point but i dont want to, i invoke the right to critique black art in and of itself

lol :calmdownlilbuddy:
Well, this is interesting because he spend much time on hip hop sites... but whatever...

I'm not saying we can't critique art- we are all doing that. I just don't want forms of expression to be blamed for certain issues when most of those expressions are just expressing the issues.

How is one crazy better or worse than another though? That part doesn't make sense to me. So the second black guy will say crazy off the wall shyt and the first will beat the shyt out of you?

I mean, I've said some crazy shyt before but always in a comedic or sarcastic manner (and I actually have a sense of humor so it isn't purely "crazy")

:yeshrug: good point.

One difference is that - one is a victim of circumstance and brain washed culture and one is loving the exploitations. The one that is loving the exploitations are just new age minstrel shows who love the Shocked Caucasian spot light more than they love themselves or their people. At least one type can be saved... the other is damn near the enemy.

And it's ok for you to say crazy sh1t.. it's expected.

I don't say crazy stuff for shock value though, that seems to be a very childish need to fill, I just like to make people laugh and sometimes that means jumping into the deep end of the pool :heh:

nah i dont agree with that at all, i dont think exploitation of a situation falls under art, and i think exploiting, which is what rap music is doing, means it doesnt deserve any protection from being in art

rap music is garbage, period

and hip hop is not rap, rap is one element out of nine elements, i spend time on hip hop message board becuase im hip hop not because i listen to rap

what is the point of differentiating between being racist and using racial stereotypes

Because racial sterotypes are everywhere. And just because one is used or mentioned doesn't make it racist. I think some things can be in bad taste, without being racist. We overuse the word, and it makes us look hyper sensitive to reality. A joke is a joke, and we can't overlook the fact that a young black kid made the joke, while promoting his TV show I might add. They just gave a you silly ass dude some creative control.

Bad taste: yea
Funny: no
Racist: not to me

I don't see you discuss any other element of hip hop so it's odd that you still dedicate so much of your time online to a genre you disagree with.
