CLAYTON Thomas — manager of reggae singer Fabian Marley — says since finding out that he is not reggae king Bob Marley’s son, the artiste is not handling it well.
“Honestly, I don’t think he’s taking it well. I have spoken to him. He’s in some form of denial,” Thomas told the
Jamaica Observer from New York yesterday.
On Friday, Thomas revealed DNA results he did in the United States on December 14 on the 47-year-old singer and a man named Othneil Stanford.
“The tests came back and it has been proven 100 per cent that this man is indeed Fabian’s real dad,” he said.
Thomas disclosed that the tests were done in Ohio and California.
“As his manager, I had to put some closure to this issue. The Marleys contacted me and, being a manager of a team, everything has to be done properly and truthful,” said Thomas.
For years, Fabian Marley claimed the reggae king was his father and became embroiled in a legal tussle with the Marleys.
“As Fabian said before, he doesn’t want anything from them [Marleys]. He just wants to continue the work of Bob Marley... He just cannot say Bob Marley is his father,” said Thomas.
He stressed that this will in no way affect the singer’s career or lead to a name change.
“His career is based on music, not his last name. An album is already recorded. On his legal documents, it says Marley... but he cannot say he’s the son of Bob Marley,” Thomas added.
Imagine going through your whole life thinkin Bob Marley was your dad & then finding out one day that he wasn't related to you at all?
Damn!
