I remember a article about Search getting to much money off Nas publishing and he had to pay him back.

I wonder if that hurt his pockets ?

I am all for the cac slander when they do wrong but I have never heard this was the case with Nas and Serch. Nas thanked Serch several times for helping him in his career. Serch has maintained he never owned any of Nas’ (portion) of his publishing. From what I gather, Serch owns 5% of the 25% that Zomba took for his publishing deal and that is his admin fee. Nas owns the rest. He said he only received fees and no pub checks from licensing of some of Nas’ work, like Hennessy for example.

Also he is likely selling his executive producer points. All in all I don’t think this is a lot like you guys seem to think. 5% admin, and maybe a couple points off of two albums. It’s not even pocket change for one day for Nas. Why it was so valuable to Serch is because he did very little work to get it and profited well in the earlier years.

Don’t know about that, you could be mis-wording it. Nas bought out of his deal with Serch and he reduced the payout by 30% when they split because Nas didn’t feel he “deserved” 100% of said amount. He felt what Serch did was only worth 70% of what they had previously agreed on.

If someone owns publishing that’s what they get paid. No such thing as giving it back because you got too much unless it was a clerical error.

Why not just sell it to Nas? He got the loot
Because real talk this is a media ploy. It’s no money to Nas. This has more to do wit what Ye is talking about than money. In total this shyt don’t generate 7 figures yearly. Nas make more off one of his little side investments. There are probably some Coli brehs that can afford to cop it. :heh: Seriously, like someone on an Akademics level. I doubt Nas is interested in it at all.

The only company's that would be interested are music publishing companies administrating other artists.

sell it back to nas you prick

As long as nas has the priority for the sell and he called him first it's all good. If he don't want it or don't get along on a price then :manny:

My first thought was sell it to Nas.

But I can agree with letting Nas get first opportunity then going from there.
