The one near my work downtown has 3 kiosks and they cut the cashiers from 3 to 1 now. Problem is people still line up for the cashier because the others using kiosks dont know wtf they are doing and take forever scrolling through the menu, lol.

I just got the mobile app so going to use that for the times I do get McDs. Get special offers and shyt too :win:

I dont use any automated kiosks anywhere if I don’t have to. Since I’m payin my money then I want service...And if they have just kiosks open as registers, like they sometimes do st Walmart when I go, then if the shyt don’t ring up the first time it still gets bagged :manny:

If I’ma ring my shyt up and bag it then I might as well give myself a discount. It’s a sale every time I go thru that bytch :WeRich:

Breh u made my day

:russell:You think this shyt was just conceived? Has the history of labor in this country not showed you that the goal is always to get the most with the least manpower? The fight for 15 is about wages not keeping up with inflation for ages.

The bots were inevitable cause eventually, they would still be cheaper than minimum wage earners, even if they earning $5 an hour. Bots don't call off work, don't leave for better opportunities, etc. Stop blaming folks who want better for themselves

and recognize, regular ass mom and pop shops are not the ones killing labor. Its the big boys.

Rep. You have always been a solid poster and this is nothing but facts.

Fast food workers have been protesting that minimum wage should be bumped up to $15 for a few years. Now look at what McDonald's is doing by installing kiosks because owners are trying to save a few dollars by not hiring employees. In one hand it convenient to consumers but on the other a lot of ppl are going to be losing jobs. Expect more fast food establishments to use the same process.

Look at what online shopping has done to a lot of the traditional brick & mortar stores by putting most of them out of business.

I hate self service checkout anywhere and as much as they push it it’s EXTREMELY difficult to use in cities with large populations that don’t speak English or are not used to using automated machines. Trying to get a metro card leaving somewhere like LGA is a nightmare for example :snoop:

Also regarding stealing, me and my friends used to steal whole grocery carts full of food from Stop N Shop using the self checkout line, half the time you can ring yourself up for one thing and just walk out, esp if there’s no security at the front. Or even if there IS a lot of the time they just see that you have a receipt and don’t even check it :youngsabo: but you didn’t hear that from me  the shrink has to be phenomenal implementing this across an entire corporation/company.

And as others have said, America was built on slavery aka free labor... 400 years of building the economy by being able to produce capital without having to pay workers... they’ve been trying to replicate it since slavery ended & finally hit the jackpot with automation and robots. It’s not about pressing back against the fight for 15 or ANYTHING except how to get maximum profit ie capital with minimum effort and the least amount of pay or benefits for workers. And it’s only going to get worse. Too many jobs can be and will be automated without any solutions on how to create more jobs for citizens. Wages remain stagnant while living expenses like rent and food increase, there are less and less jobs but ppl keep saying ‘just go get a job :manny:’ and they fight against higher wages for the jobs that ARE still around. And when people bring up a universal basic income or having the govt step in at some point (not that I would even want trump’s administration stepping in :whoa:) it becomes ‘people just want a handout and don’t want to work.’

People need to learn skills... Take up a trade.

Service industry won't be here forever in the same capacity.

I’ve been saying this for years. I did a video on black people and education where I said listen... not everyone can go to college... not everyone is smart enough, has enough money/access, or is able/willing to accrue debt etc, and service/factory/etc jobs are dying fast... in the vid I said learn a trade like welding or become an electrician, something that is too finicky to have robots do it... go into caretaking where you can make a decent amount of money because ppl won’t want machines taking care of their children or aging/dying parents (the average hospice salary is $70k and up)... stuff like that where a human component is necessary... people got FURIOUS but we really really really have to start thinking around the system as it exists

Even young people like Chick-Fil-A's service. It sets them apart

Same with any sit down restaurant. nikkas aint trying to pay $100 for a nice meal and go pick up their food from a robot

Big part of eating out... even fast food... is the dining experience. Now if I'm on the road breezing through a rest stop IDGAF. Some times you don't give a shyt about the experience. But I don't know if a robot or kiosk can really replace a good human server. It doesnt even have to be a fancy place. Waffle House, Dennys.... the servers add to it.

The real issue here are people starting families and shyt on MW jobs but that's another discussion.

Also there is such a thing as a career server or bartender... old ass mofos that have been at the same restaurant 30 years and the like because they enjoy it and are good at it... who are we to say they shouldn’t earn a living wage doing that? Who are any of us to say what a ‘career’ is or what a ‘real’ job is? College and office jobs and doctors and lawyers and shyt like that ain’t for everybody... so those people just starve huh according to a lot of these posters :mjpls: capitalists

The sky won't fall. Society will adapt.

100 years ago, the uneducated relied on farming and manual labor. Technology completely revamped those industries too. Sure there are still plenty of manual labor h jobs today, but machines have greatly reduced the amounts needed.

I gotta be honest. I usually spend a day a week in Manhattan on work and I despise kiosks in McDonalds to the point where I just dip out and go Burger King instead. The lines are super long and it's a clunky process.

God's Plan
They have one of these near me. The line moved extremely slowly. I see the same thing happen in self serve grocery store lines. A lot of people wanna do it themselves but don't know what they're doing.
