Basic tenant of communism is liberalism and democracy to the point where workers own the means of production, in both societies the state had absolute control which by definition is fascism. Just because a country claims an ideology or a form of economy does not mean that is what they actually practice.

Do you even know what communism is? State ownership of the means of production, the elimination of class structures and the establishment of a society in which all parties benefit equally. There is no private ownership within in communism. This can be achieved in many different ways and yes a communist state can be a dictatorship.

There's nothing in texts about communism stating that liberalism and democracy are necessary for Communism. I think you're confusing pure anarchy with Communism. Pure anarchy by definition is the purest form of democracy there is aka direct democracy. Can there be direct democracy withing Communism sure but if you have a government that's never going to be the case.

Nazi Germany literally privatized a bunch of public assets and used revenue from those privatization efforts to fund their war machine. Hitler rejected socialism and pushed back against any effort to move Germany in that direction. Stalin and Hitler were ideological opposites. Hitler literally fought against socialists (in the end he also fukking murdered them wtf do you think the night of the long knives were) that demanded the return of public assets from privates hands. Business leaders supported Hitler's rise to power and he gifted some of them with even more of Germany's public assets.
