Mayor Eric Adams has fearmongered to New Yorkers about crime and the subways despite knowing this is one of the safest cities in the country and now..

It’s comedic seeing NYPD and exclusively right wing outlets and politicians defend Eric Adams and call me a liar, yet none of them can say what I lied about because everything I said is easily verifiable. Nonetheless, I compiled the receipts:

Thank you so much. I actually don’t think the breakfast club or anyone else has any business engaging with and platforming Candace Owens altogether. We tackled this exact conversation in the new episode of Olay & friends premiering today at 1pm!

I’ll post to threads now. But alas, my bluesky be logging me out and I don’t remember the password lol

If NYPD is openly harassing a media professional and attorney simply because I outperformed the mayor in an interview, one can only imagine how they treat everyday citizens who critique them. It’s no wonder we paid $121 million on police misconduct settlements last year.

Man there’s such a fun thing happening with black people having these types of conversations. We finally getting this without the uppity undertones.

Just watched the Breakfast Club interview with Olay & Eric Adams and what’s really pissing me off is him refusing to look at her or talk to her.

There’s moments he’s literally talkin about her in 3rd person as if she’s not in the room.

2/3
All that “sista” & “queen” shyt went out the window EARLY during the interview the moment he realized that paternalistic misogynoir & pseudo-charm wasn’t finna work or gaslight her. Went straight to dismissiveness.

3/3
Literally ignoring her existence to evade actual accountability. And sis wasn’t having it, you gonna hear her!!!

If NYC has a homelessness problem, we should be investing in housing, homeless services, and lowering the cost of living. If we have a problem with mental illness or addiction, we should be investing in healthcare, not criminalization. We ALL want a safer NYC—not a police state.

Will do! I’ll catch up on all my messages by tomorrow promise

she came in with an agenda to tear adams down. they were basically arguing like an unhappy couple rather than having a dialogue. i'm surprised adams even agreed to this. has there been a mayor that new yorkers actually like? my earliest memory of an NY mayor goes back to guilliani and people hated him and every mayor after him.

seems like you will never please people as mayor of a major metropolitan city. you're gonna have so many issues and so many different demographics to please that it's impossible to make everyone happy. i don't live in NY but i feel like the bay area and NY have similar issues and people complain non-stop. the mayors make a policy change? people complain. the mayors adjust the policy after feedback? people complain.

:youngsabo:The same narrative is sprayed all over the country as a way to draw support for police funding from those communities. They actively diverting funds from public services to fund the NYPD. It is more than small issue.

On Eric Adams, that's just NY mayors being NY mayors. They will not have a mayor who is gonna shake things up to keep those communities satisfied.

NY is safer than most cities when you look at murder rates, that's just a fact. Especially red state cities in the south lol. That being said there is certainly crime in the city and it doesn't help when the mayor and media constantly provide ridiculous over coverage of these cases. You'd think a mayor, cops etc would want to constantly say "hey this is a safe city" especially if it's true. Instead they fear monger and I'm not even sure it works on a local level. The coverage seems moreso about national politics, Biden, democrats, etc. Never mind that national crime is down too, the perception is that it's up because the media wants you to believe it's up. To help republicans.

The other issue I have is the mixed messaging and targeting between genuine community activists who want a better city and communists who want chaos. People are willing to suggest more resources for mental health facilities (to get homeless people off the streets), drug treatment, after school programs etc. You need need to separate that from people saying get rid of cops, get rid of basic rules, get rid of cash bond for violent offenders, etc. There has to be an understanding that if you want less cops the best way to do that is to keep lowering crime. Which is going to include getting homeless people off subways, get violent criminals off the streets and be smarter about how cops are deployed.
