Ya'll misreading me.

9TH makes it clear he's moved past LB.

I'm not saying he's useless or trash or a footnote.

It's weird in 2022 to still expect 9th to contribute to the legacy anymore. He either felt trapped by, felt he outgrow, etc., etc. Little Brother, but, he's done.

I don't even expect him to acknowledge the existence of LB, anymore.

You're basically boycotting LB over something that happened when I was in high school (the OG breakup).

I think it's weird. :yeshrug:

Ali didn't have any contribution to the last tribe album and Phife had past away...it was basically two members (plus Cons) putting the album together and it's close to their best work.
I get what you're saying but Phife was definitely all over that album. You're right about Ali but I didn't feel like anything was missing from the production.

I get that, but, in the end, the last word was with Q-Tip.

Phife actually named the album, but, he was gone by the time it came out.

It still feel the "Little Brother" sound on the newest album. Hell, LB's mix tapes barely had 9th beats (Chitlin Circuit doesn't count as a "mixtape" to me).

Nah, 9th is way better than good. He's not Dilla reinventing the wheel but he has a sound he mastered and can crank out a high volume of quality work.

I will say a lot his most spectacular work was in his earlier days. I still listen to those instrumentals.

I feel you, but when I listen to the shyt 9th's been doing for the last 5-10 years, I don't hear how Phonte & Pooh working with him now wouldn't sound like a step backwards.

9th is a really really good "start of your career" producer. If i was a rapper, I'd do an EP with 9th, but I wouldn't do my album with him.

If that makes sense.

Breh might take that as you shytting on 9th, but I get what you're saying. All parties involved have grown past the original Little Brother situation, both personally and professionall, especially 9th.

And I one hundred percent believe that the issue was that the fans wanted someone (9th) in the group that just didn't want to be there any longer. He's more invested in other shyt, which he's completely entitled to be. Forcing them to all work together again would be pushing something solely for the novelty and potential cash it could make, which was counterintuitive to what their music was supposed to be about in the first place.

9th is right. Right Here is an amazing LB song

In general ILLmind was a problem in the 2000s era, he produced some serious bangers. I got a playlist from that era with all the heat he did for artist like Supastition, Akrobatik, Napz N Dreds, Kenn Starr, El Da Sensei, etc.

And it's kinda ill (no pun) to see Illmind's name pop up on random modern credits.

He kept up with the times really well and is eating out here.

According to Phonte, 9th won't be in the doc. They reached out multiple times for him to give his side of the story, but he never responded

Not surprised, honestly.

It's real disappointing that at least from the outside, it seems like they keep offering him every opportunity to dispel the negative perception of him when it comes to Little Brother shyt, and he continually declines.
