And yal said tanking doesn't work

:troll:
It don’t really. Michiganders can tell you about it. Most of our sports teams are shyt or mediocre and the Lions only improved when they got competent management and stopped losing on purpose. The Pistons on the other hand…

The Pistons are shytty at drafting and player development on top of orga ineptitude so it makes sense why they continue being mediocre.

Winning two road play-in games and then multiple playoff series against superior teams with HCA is just not realistic. The Mavs didn't even control their own destiny, they could have won their final two games and still miss the play-in because OKC is facing a Memphis team that is going to rest all of their core players.

A lottery pick is 100% more valuable than putting all of your eggs in the play-in basket when another team controls your fate. That pick is the biggest asset they have in improving the team and surrounding Luka/Kyrie with adequate support pieces. The Mavs need to put a playoff contender around Luka next season and that pick presents the best opportunity to do so. It has more trade value than any Mav besides Luka. No GM is prioritizing a less than 5% chance of making the playoffs over a lottery pick.
And now they're in the finals because of this move :manny:

Going from missing the offs to possible championship next season is impressive stuff.
