What you mean breh? My point to clarify a bit is...for instance...An alien civilization meets us with the same amount of technological know how as Earth. When we sit down and share knowledge, we might see that they know how to make a nuke as well...but their model of atomic structure varies drastically form ours. But according to their research and theories their model fits to harness the power of the atom...just as ours does. Same with their math knowledge. They have no idea what calculus is...but their system works to exploit nature.

While I agree their model of the atom could be different, their mathematics would have to be pretty similar if not the same. Math is just an extrapolation of the behavior of the universe, and that's gonna be the same no matter which planet you're from.

So its a theory you're saying.

Aren't you an engineer?

What brought this epiphany, and would you be as kind to provide an example of the bold?

I'm going to engage in a conversation and then I'll proceed you to teach you something about perception, philosophy of mind and mathematics.

What is a way to find the circumference of a circle?

Easy

You Multiply two by pi by the radius.

That's not a fact of a circle.

It's only fact is that it is circular. All facts are self evident

There are multiple ways in which to measure the circumference of a circle not using the aforementioned example.

Why you so angry breh...just agree with him and keep it moving. You saying the same shyt. Where did he try and make make a less valid medium of expression?

Because this guy is saying math is "immanent."

"Immanence refers to philosophical and metaphysical theories of divine presence."

Immanence - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Math has NOTHING to do with divinity. It is not a question of faith. It is a question of human logical propositions in the form of numbers.

I'm not sure what you mean, but no math isn't a theory. It's a manmade way of expressing and communicating our observations about the universe. It's no different than a language, really. That's like saying "Spanish is a theory." Doesn't apply.

I don't understand your argument. Because there are several ways to determine the circumference of a circle, mathematics is not a fact?
