It’s been poor since the beginning.
Like a lot of us I bought a fair few No Limit cd’s and even the ‘Mac’ ones which were easily the best because they had barely any Beats By The Pound produced tracks.. are never ever played or considered when I am dusting off the old collection.

I would certainly never play a no limit cd if I was trying to promote hip hop to the masses..
Near every product holistically from every click in the south was miles better from production and lyrics to concepts.

P was just a biter as already stated, but he couldn’t even bite well.
Anybody that goes through Sillkk and C Murder albums saying they are classics are either tone deaf or rhythm-less.

Mac's Shell Shocked is entirely produced by Beats By The Pound. World War III is the album with no BBTP beats outside of the songs Carlos Stephens did.

My mistake.. good point. Although World War 3 is miles better...
But yes I think Shell Shocked was the only cd where I heard a few BBTP tracks that I liked. It’s like they switched their style for that album.

Master P, Fiend, Silkk, Mystikal, C-Murder, and Soulja Slim all had BBTP produced albums that you can very well go back to listen to.

Plus this:

I will say the best album to drop on No Limit didnt have primarily BBTP production

Happy Perez and Young Bleed cooked up a classic with My Balls And My Word :whew:

Yep. Thats the other album that waa nice.
Honestly Beats By The Pound made a monsterous amount of duds.
No Limit subject matter waa poor..
Concepts were light
Lyrics and skills wise 99% of the roster outside of mystikal, mac and field were weak..

Where are people finding a shining light here?

Master P was never an artist. He’s not a creative guy. He’s a hustler that would take what works and pass it off as his own. He doesn’t care anything about the actual craft (whether it’s movies, music, etc), which is why he’s never come close to being able to recreate the prime no limit years.

No limit worked, because he was surrounded by talented producers and artists. I don’t even think you can consider him a great talent scout. It was more about signing the hottest local acts, just being the hustler that he is and seeing what worked at the local level and presenting it to the world (ie jacking ice cream man and bout it)

Just look at the talent he would surround himself with everytime he tried to relaunch nolimit. It was nothing but garbage man.

Master p really needed his own “dr Dre.” Someone who is really into the craft and making quality products while he does his thing to push it. You can’t push some of the nonsense he’s attempted to push for over 20 years now.

Well put this way.. I remember when P and Sillk sounded like they were fron Oakland..

From the Bay, I like Too Short and the dangerous crew especially when they messed with live instrumentation.

From the South - Dungeon Family, Suave House, UGK... who put put miles better product than Master P...

From the west Quik is my favourite

Basically I wouldnt go there..
I will run circles around this thread if I need to, but trust me as a music fan and hiphop fan.. NO LIMIT has NOT stood the test of time.. and none of their product holds its own agaisnt anything by Ball & G and all of Suave House, Scarface, Devin, Getto Boys, Outkast, Goodie Mob and the complete extended DF.
It also doesnt hold up ve anything out of Death Row, Quik or Too Shorts camps, it doesnt hold up vs Link Cru.. I could go on and on.
It doesnt even hold up vs cash money.. because Mannie Fresh ie better than No Limits production crew put together.

Ultimately No Limit (apart from MAC and Mysical and I guess SSlim and Fiend is bottom tier musicallly and lyrically)
