P had a fake Pac, Romeo to compete with Bow Wow for the kid demographic, T-Bo for the white rapper trend, crunk music variations, Cash
P really tried covering every base throughout his career

actually master p had the lil soldiers out there not long before bow wow. in fact, im willing to bet that the lil soldiers, along with the magnificent 7 are the reasons JD decided to get back in the kid rap game.

plus Romeo was prolly being groomed for rap anyway. he was on the albums.

and whats wrong covering every base?? isn't that what he should do as a CEO that doesn't want to be pigeon-held?? when the white man does this, yall have absolutely no problems with it.

Well put this way.. I remember when P and Sillk sounded like they were fron Oakland..

From the Bay, I like Too Short and the dangerous crew especially when they messed with live instrumentation.

From the South - Dungeon Family, Suave House, UGK... who put put miles better product than Master P...

From the west Quik is my favourite

Basically I wouldnt go there..
I will run circles around this thread if I need to, but trust me as a music fan and hiphop fan.. NO LIMIT has NOT stood the test of time.. and none of their product holds its own agaisnt anything by Ball & G and all of Suave House, Scarface, Devin, Getto Boys, Outkast, Goodie Mob and the complete extended DF.
It also doesnt hold up ve anything out of Death Row, Quik or Too Shorts camps, it doesnt hold up vs Link Cru.. I could go on and on.
It doesnt even hold up vs cash money.. because Mannie Fresh ie better than No Limits production crew put together.

Ultimately No Limit (apart from MAC and Mysical and I guess SSlim and Fiend is bottom tier musicallly and lyrically)

no diss but youre too stuck on your own opinions and what you like personally.

theres a gang of reasons why no limit were way bigger than all the rappers & cliques you named.

and it aint just because of "master p's hustle" cuz most of those names had enough opportunity to blow bigger than they were, but they didn't.

Wayne was the future and Baby and Slim saw it, before the fans knew it.

He was young and fans liked him. And his skills were improving. The upside was tremendous. The rest of the guys already reached their ceiling and were subtly fading, Mannie included. Baby and Slim saw it before it set the company back. That is what good executives do. Cold, but business.

Again, most people couldn't even see it in hindsight. Baby and Slim saw it in real time. And they were correct by investing in Wayne and not the others, including Mannie. The rest is history.

nah. wayne was just the one that they could control. and to his credit, he was also the hungriest but lets not be revisionist.

by '99, they weren't just building him as the future, they were trying to make him the man in real-time. always giving him most of the best production & promo. his debut album had just as much promo as juvi's g-code, despite the fact that he only sold half of what g-code moved. not to mention that juvi was still selling crazy units of 400 degreez at the time.

and then the next two wayne albums didn't do well. they had mickey up there grooming him(and prolly ghostwriting) but it aint work out. the albums flopped & he was seen as a laughing-stock following the big tymers around everywhere they go, until they had gillie ghostwriting for him and making over Wayne's entire style.
and even then, when C1 was out, the album juvi went back to do with cash money was bigger.

and if we're being all the way real, juvi & BG's music was just as good as Wayne's thru the rest of that decade, and i'd say that their best stuff was better than Wayne's chit(aside from C1, which he aint even write). but wayne had the ball, the machine, and the appeal to the new youth. that's how the game goes sometimes, but I don't respect it at all.

That is the difference between P and :birdman: and :jprince2:. P is just as good of a hustler as them, maybe even better. But Birdman and J prince, even at their age, know who to ride with and invest in and stay up with the times much longer than P. J Prince's son found Drake, and the rest is history.
.

j.prince son didn't find chit.
j.prince is just extorting drake.

rap-a-lot aint really been relevant since like '95 and it was never THAT big.

Nikka I’m dead :mjlol:

jay's post-retirement is actually worse.

just because they force jay chit on you and tell you that hes still relevant, it doesn't sway my opinion.
yall can go bump that bullchit if you want. that dude sounded like he was about to have a stroke on his last album. but I guess that's good quality hip-hop music to yall.

:gucci:Alright nikka you reached hard for that one.

Remember when he straight up jacked Future:

how is that reaching hard? 95% of jay's music since '06 has been wack.
whats funny is, youre defending jay-z in the same post, whose notorious for jacking other artists.

so what if he jacked future?? you mean the same future that sampled P's record?

yall never keep the same energy.

Hip-Hop Since '79
Da Last Don and his following three albums were disappointing, I agree, but many of his artists put out great albums (Fiend, Mac, Snoop) after 98

Good Side Bad Side was also pretty good:obama:

Let's just forget his trash ass movies and shows:snoop:

I actually enjoyed Da Last Don. I guess the highs outweighed the lows for me on that album.

And Fiend's TOIEF is my favorite No Limit album
