fukked up seeing Liddell getting those messages. He’s from the STL east side too. Same reason I don’t even begin to venture over into the Eleven Warrior game threads, you’ll see some vile shyt from people that would never say that to a dude standing 6’7”/240 pound’s face, but easy to do that behind a keyboard.

Sense of entitlement from a lot of these spectators. Thinking that since they cheer for them, that they "own" them for some reason. We just have to live and learn from the loss and move on to next season :mjcry:.

That’s even if they’re Buckeye fans. Could be some random dudes who put money on the game or on OSU going to the final four or all the way. Or some scUM or other Big Ten team trolls making OSU fans look that way. But that’s the thing, anybody from anywhere can message someone on IG and act like they’re anonymous. Coward shyt.

I tried out Buckeye Scoop for a month to see what insider info gets posted on there, I’ll share some camp updates:

First name I want mention is linebacker Cody Simon. Not a guy that many people are talking about---but Cody has consistently graded out right near the top of the written exams--and is moving up the charts physically as one of the most physically imposing and strongest guys on the OSU team right now. Hard to not have this guy catch your eye when you watch practice. A physical specimen that is showing a knowledge of the game that matches his god given gifts. I think he may surprise a lot of people this season. Expect him to be at least a top special teams performer--but it wouldn't shock me to see him emerge as one of the key answers in the linebacker question marks that are surrounding the OSU team this year. In a room with ZERO career returning starts, it is as wide open as wide open could ever be. Literally the opposite of the next room in this Nugget:

The Wide Recievers...

Simply W.O.W....

My second name that is worthy of note is Kamryn Babb. Kamryn is one of those guys that is seemingly forgotten by a lot of folks---as the wide receiver talent is just ridiculous right now. But Kamryn has quietly put in a magnificent off season and is poised to have one of those breakout seasons that no one could have imagined. Been battling injuries for a while, but now is completely healthy and is standing out in a crowded group of talented wide outs. Don't be surprised to hear more about Kamryn in the weeks to come. It will be an absolute boon to be the #3 WR this year, as you’ll never get any attention from opposing defenses who have to worry about Wilson/Olave. It is Kam’s time to eat, but man this is the most competitive battle for playing time maybe in Ohio State history (talking that #3 WR spot). Will be simply fascinating to see who breaks the huddle week one as the H slot receiver....

Third name is Dawand Jones. Dawand is noticeably slimmer and quicker this season--with no apparent loss of strength. The OSU coaches fought hard to make sure he didn't leave the team this winter and Dawand seems to be embracing the fact that he may see significant minutes on the field this year at guard---while waiting for his moment to play more at tackle. A very versatile performer that--when combined with Thayer, Johnson, Jones and NPF just creates a MASSIVE offensive line for Ohio State. Very excited to see more of him this season---always been a fan favorite, but now he will get the chance to play and really make himself and NFL prospect. The Florida Gator smoke was very very very real last December, and was all due to Thayer’s surprising decision to exercise his “free year of eligibility” due to COVID. Dawand has absolutely enormous upside and just really really needs to stay engaged and buy in to being a mammoth guard after having Left Tackle on his mind all last year. Put him inside with Paris, Matt Jone/Harry Miller, etc and it’ll be time to mash. Paris Johnson has even practiced snapping this offseason to enhance his versatility (Paris Pouncey anyone LOL). Matt Jones missed Friday’s work and Harry Miller will miss most if not all of spring recovering from surgery, so PJ might actually get real reps at C in an effort to get the “best 5 on the field”. LeCharles Bentley came in as a freshman in 1998 and was the backup at LT, then shifted to OG/OC and he turned out pretty damn good. Paris is a rare rare kid who is as unselfish as he is massively talented. Excited to see him on the inside...

Fourth name is Lathan Ransom. One of my favorite kids on the team last season. He is back this year and has added size and strength. Can play anywhere in the defensive backfield and can be a key part of the answer to the question "how does OSU get better in pass defense in 2021?" Super smart kid who puts the time in the film room and the class room--and it shows. Totally conversant on the OSU scheme and is almost like having another coach on the field when he is out there. Losing Hooker to suspension is no bueno, but a silver lining is the coaching staff can’t keep Ransom off the field as much as they did last year (which was MYSTIFYING to some of the smartest people in the WHAC). I expect HUGE things from Lathan this season. Could even be in that rare Malik Hooker territory in terms of making a MASSIVE jump...

Fifth name is Taron Vincent--veteran guy who can be a key contributor this season. Taking a ton of reps at the three technique with Haskell out this spring. Super intelligent kid who really understands what OSU is trying to accomplish defensively. Also was one of the top performers this winter in the weight room and looks to be in tremendous shape. Defensive line depth will be a key this year---and OSU believes 100% this will be a team strength---so Taron is going to play and play a lot. He HAS to learn to play the 1-tech nose guard spot with Haskell coming back. I think it is his contract year, and it is time to live up to the recruiting billing. One of my early favorites for breakout star for sure--which is tough on the D line....

Saved the best for last---and I know its super early to be making a proclamation like this--but CJ Stroud is the real deal. I love McCord. I love Miller. But CJ is just different level talent in my opinion. Physically he just does everything a little better than the other guys. Mentally he is just advanced and mature for his age. One practice in? I'm saying CJ will be the winner of this QB derby--and will be one of the dark horse favorites to win the Heisman Trophy this season. High praise--and I may live to regret calling this so early--but I pretty sure I will be proven correct on this one....

More spring practice updates:

Lots of work today on the fundamentals as the Buckeyes took to the field with pads on for the first time.

Notable was the fact that they had CJ Stroud and Jack Miller working almost exclusively with the "ones" and splitting reps---while Kyle McCord mixed in with both of them when operating with the "twos"...all three of the QB's looked good today with very little separating the three of them....CJ seems to have the respect of the team as they just gravitate to him--but on the field play was really solid with few mistakes for so early in the process...One of the things that strikes you immediately is how big of an arm that McCord had. Nothing subtle about the way he plays the game as he just rears backs and lets it go like a veteran. The QB battle is going to be one for the ages for sure

Offensive line went Munford, Wypler, Jones, Johnson and NPF across the front and looked good on the inside run---which was clearly the focus of the opening day....

Running backs went Master Teague, Miyan Williams and Steele Chambers--but Marcus Crowley was the surprise star with two beautiful runs in limited action

so rare to have six running backs as Henderson and Pryor went exclusively with the twos today....

most spirited action of the day was when they went to pass protection drills and put the linebackers, defensive linemen and the running backs in some one on one's---Craig Young continues to impress as does Antwuan Jackson and Javontae Jean-Baptiste.....Teague is a star in these drills and was really spending time with the younger guys encouraging them on their technique...

Defense spent a lot of time on the "pursuit drill" where the coaches continued to stress the importance of proper positioning, taking better angles and limiting big play opportunities...

a couple of the young defensive backs have really impressed me with their athleticism in Ryan Watts and Lejond Cavazos..

Sevyn Banks seems like a much more focused young man this spring as well---you absolutely get the impression that he realizes he was just "ok" last year and wants to make a huge jump....

guys were flying around----scrimmaging is right around the corner and that's when things will get even better...can't wait.....

Some more updates:

Jack Sawyer is already gaining the respect of the veterans in the room both with his ability but also the way he approaches every practice, every drill, every film session. every workout. It's hard to jump in and immediately be accepted by the juniors and seniors, but Jack is already "one of the guys' and spends a lot of time with the vets in the room like Tyler Friday and Zach Harrison. None of this is surprising, but he has been as advertised and is right on track to be a big part of the rotation this fall.

- Another guy to keep an eye on in this freshman class is defensive tackle Tyliek Williams. The coaches and players are blown away by how quick and explosive he is at his size. Right now he is a little bigger than they would like at about 330 pounds. Ideally they will get him playing at around 315 so that is a major focal point for him in his diet plan. But the thought is that if he is this impressive already with his quickness at 330, what could he be in his second year in the program and playing at a more ideal weight? Would not be surprised if he was in the DT rotation THIS year but this is a guy to really watch for that second year leap.

- TreVeyon Henderson is as advertised(maybe even better?) and it feels like he is being groomed to be a big part of the plans. There is a J.K. Dobbins vibe around him as someone who came in early, worked really hard and did all of the things asked of him off the field as well. He's a real pro already.

- Henderson gets most of the pub but Evan Pryor has also impressed on the field and off the field with his maturity. What separates Pryor from most of the other backs on the roster is that he is an outstanding pass catcher out of the backfield. Might not be enough touches to go around for him to make a big impact right away as it is kind of a crowded room right now but his ability to bring a bit of a different dimension to the running back room is noticeable.

- Asked around a bit about who the "toughest cover" is from the wide receiver room and Jaxon Smith-Njigba got several votes. Really a surprising number of votes given how special Olave and Wilson are. Probably the quickest receiver on the roster. Just a special ability to change direction. And we already know he has ridiculous hands

- It took some time, but Cade Stover is making a very strong case as the second tight end behind Ruckert. Starting to pick things up as a blocker and is a very gifted athlete and pass catcher. Really big off-season for him after going through multiple position changes already. A lot of times when that happens, it signals that the player might not be good enough to be a dude at Ohio State but that doesn't appear to be the case here at all. Really good off-season so far for Cade."
