It is very possible, even though it sounds crazy. Look at the situation and it becomes simple math.

I heard roughly that there were 22,000 people in a two-acre area.

In other words you're talking about a target the size of two football fields, and on average EVERY SQUARE METER of that target has four people in it. The crowded parts gonna have way more than 4 people per square meter.

You just aim at the most crowded sections, and it doesn't even matter if you miss what you aiming at by 100 feet, because every nearly every damn one of your bullets gonna hit something. Hell, plenty of your bullets going to go through one person (if they hit the neck or arm especially) and hit a 2nd person. And I haven't seen the video but was there concrete involved? Then even the bullets that don't hit anyone might do it on the ricochet.

Then factor in that people are going to be hurt by falls while running, trampled in stampede, etc....probably wasn't 500 people with actual bullet wounds...though it would be possible.

Only factor limiting the carnage was how many bullets he could unleash before he was stopped.

They don't have to be accurate, you shoot into a crowd, and aim high, you are hitting necks, heads, chests, stomach, with high caliber bullets. The ones that took leg shots or side wounds, or in the back, can bleed out, before they get medical help.
