Facts. That's like saying we are personally responsible for the atrocities committed in Iraq by the US military
If you voted for Bush, supported the war + ignored or were even supportive of these said atrocities happening, then you surely do carry some responsibility. Plus, the war in Iraq is dissimilar. A better theoretical example would be USA attacking Canada. I'd imagine that this wouldn't be possible. Yet, Russia attacked Ukraine and the vast majority of Russians still support Putin.

You can believe it if you want to, but it's not only the government that is fukked. There's a saying that the problem is not Putin, but the fact that Putin is just a normal Russian. This is what happens when there's no denazification, but instead your genocidal tendencies are celebrated. Russians as individuals might be often caring and warm, but there's also a dark side that Western countries tried and still try to ignore.
Do you actually know any Russian people? I'm sure what you're saying is accurate when it comes to the older generations over there but every Ruski I know is cool :manny:

The issue with statistics coming out about Russian support for Putin, is those numbers come from Russia. Russia has a track record of suppressing all dissent and controlling all narratives. People make jokes about the CIA "suiciding" people for little things but that really happens in Russia, and it happens a lot

Navalny was just the most well known to the west

Sure, but there are many different academic research papers, a lot of them based on the information from Levada Center, also the opinions of state agencies in Eastern Europe, and all of them point to the fact that approx 70+% support Putin, about 10-20% are not sure and 10% oppose him. The war hasn't had any significant negative effect on his support either.

I'm from Eastern Europe. The younger generations are indeed more tolerant, because they have access to internet and Western media, but still a lot of them are vatniks. Even the ones not living in Russia. And yes, some of them are actually cool but others are only cool as long as you don't talk about politics. You generally don't do that, because you don't want to know what they actually think. There's a strong "chosen people" undercurrent going on.

Ah yes, "U.S. Counter terrorism Officials and Analysts said."

Has to be true then.

"The United States collected intelligence in March that Islamic State-Khorasan, known as ISIS-K, the branch of the group based in Afghanistan, had been planning an attack on Moscow, according to officials. ISIS members have been active in Russia, one U.S. official said."

Apparently the U.S. is Duty bound to inform both Iran and Russia when they get info of an impending attack, because we all know the last thing the Officials and analysts want are innocent civilians dead.

As with most things surrounding attacks and conflicts nowadays,we are going to get a deluge of "info" immediately from the main players in Western media who are spoon fed,and then as time goes there will be an aggregation of the facts.

This is a good point, outside of one every Russian I know lives in the US. But with that being said not talking about politics goes both ways. Especially here in the south half of the people you come across are going to be on the opposite end of the spectrum, and a smaller percentage of that carry the "chosen people" undercurrent here as well, while not actually not supporting a war though.

Yeah, with Russians, the "chosen people" mindset sadly comes with the imperialist understanding that it's okay if not a must for Russia to dominate and conquer their neighbours. If anyone opposes the looting, murder and rape that has always been their modus operandi, then they almost feel shocked. These people must be "fascist". Can't be our doing. The narrative eventually turns into we must protect ourselves, because we are the actual victims here. NATO and their fascist cohorts are attacking us and we just wanted to share Russki Mir with them.

As a soft example of this crooked worldview. I used to date a nice Russian girl some 15 years ago. My national football (soccer) team won against Russia. I was happy, she wanted to know why. I told her...we won against Russia. She immediately started to cry. Never lived a day in Russia, never cared about football. Still, somehow this defeat was devastating.

This is a white/european thing. The same can be said for the USA too.
