The rhymes were good but the beats and hooks were trash.

Honestly, there's some gems on the album and there are some wack joints too

but the few gems are some of Ma$e's best songs

Only reason this song was a hit record is because he didn't promote it. Ma$e and Blackstreet over that classic Shalamar beat; classic

One of Ma$e's hardest songs

Another one of Ma$e's hardest songs

And the GOAT Ma$e song; bro poured his heart and soul on this record. This is the realest shyt he's ever written :mjcry:

album gets a lot of hate...but that shyt was :wow: from start to finish..it followed the same exact formula as "harlem world"...it got unneccesary hate just because of how he gave up right as it was being released, and shyt didnt get promoted at all...it just might be a slept on classic though

that beat :lawd:

possibly could be better than "24 hours to live"

couldve been a hit single if he didnt decide to just randomly quit and do god's work

your thoughts on this album??

is it in your top 10 of favorite hip hop albums?

Listening back to this album now and reminiscing back to 1999

it's crazy when you think back to 99' and then the 2000's and just how much shyt changed so quickly too

Hip Hop in 99' was so vastly different from Hip Hop in like 2002

shyt was like night and day

another thing

listening back to this album and then seeing Ma$e's influence

Start from Scratch in 99'

then in 2005 The Game has a song titled Start From Scratch

sure, plenty of cats have songs with the same title and all, but with The Game and his biting ways, i'm sure he studied Ma$e's song Start From Scratch like a hawk lol

shyt, i think he even name drops Ma$e's name in his song

then Ye dropping Late Registration in 2005 and him borrowing lines from Ma$e's song, Another Story for his single Gold Digger

Ye borrowed a lot from Ma$e. even down to Ma$e's adlibs in songs, when Ye was doing his Ma$e imitation with the "Come on, come on" lmao

Cats downplay Ma$e's time in the game, but dude left a lasting impression on Hip Hop
