I don't know how looting and burning down your own community's buildings solves anything.
Quite honestly, the youth have nothing to lose. You get killed if you ain't doing shyt so may as well give them a reason. It's not like they have a bunch of opportunites to look forward to. Older dudes have families and shyt to support.It is always the youth who buck the system and spearhead change. Just like the youth of the 60s in Chi, LA, and NJ that prompted the govt to create the Kerner Commission.

We need more black people to re-build the neighborhood. My friend and I was just talking about this; she was like "burn it down, let them devalue it and we buy it up". I don't have the bread to do that now but it's definitely something I added to my long term goals. If we at least control the ownership of housing in our communities we could put our people in an economic advantage.
Cops choked dude to death in NY and nothing was done. Trayvon, Nothing was done. Mike Brown nothing was done. Cops are out here beating and killing black folks left and right and they get off. People are sick of it. If they don't have video footage nobody does shyt and even if they do they can still get off.
Hell off-duty cop in Chicago shoots into a crowd and kills a black girl and gets off because the judge says they should have charged him with first degree murder and not involuntary manslaughter and now due to double jeopardy rules he's scot free.
People aren't just gonna stand around and take this. If the law won't do nothing then people will riot and can you blame them?

One Baltimore cop asserted on Twitter that the kid broke his own neck by banging his head against the window. That seems a little . . . iffy. It also doesn't explain why his voice-box was crushed. One could speculate that they threw him in the van too hard but unless the kid was made of tissue paper, the more natural conclusion is that they beat him.
Guess we'll have to wait for the forensics to come out. Meantime, downtown Baltimore will burn.

No offense but were y'all high? Most people period don't have the money to be doing that stuff your friend talking about and she thought that was a good idea? That's beyond silly most people lose their house right now they going to be tap dancing for change so while that sounds good that's not even close to feasible.
The best thing people can do is keep their stuff up in the first place so people can't get it for cheap rates. If not that get into the booming gentrification going on in cities if possible even though like I said the former is way easier. Honestly a house means jack if you want people in better economic positions people have to put themselves their for the most part through choices they make in most cases. Its a few people that have situations beyond their control but most like people posting on here dint have that excuse IMO on having majority control of,their economic future.

You have parts of the West side that have been in great need for improvement and now people want to talk about uplifting the community now that everything has popped off.
