I DID think the explanation surrounding the lack of finances for Sam was a little weak. I definitely get the whole “gone for five years” thing, that makes perfect sense. But The Avengers not getting paid and getting by on “Good Will” is bullshyt. If i’m not mistaken even in the comics the Avengers were bankrolled by Shield and given a stipend (except for Blank Panther who had no need of it)

It would be more realistic if Sam was broke because he decided to go with Steve and become a fugitive after Civil War so the Government froze all of his assets and terminated his military benefits. Now that he’s back and obviously been pardoned he’s got to get back on his feet. That makes sense.
He should've asked for his payment from the Air Force for saving that soldier be paid up front.

Off episode 1, this has the potential to be the best Disney + original. This series has the least amount of reliance on nostalgia or it's ties to upcoming tentpole films. I'm more than down for an espionage action/thriller. This is Disney+ tho, so I might have to temper my expectations on the thriller part. I also might have to set my ceiling for social commentary at what we saw in this episode. Comic book readers know how Sam Wilson's turn as Cap went with the incel community. I doubt Disney is willing to alienate that demographic by keeping it really real. Action was on point and almost on par with Cap 2. I really want to see Anthony Clarence Mackie win. He's been a sidekick for too long. Hopefully he does his thing here.
