Props to you man. I can't do it lol. I work with a bunch of writers and all of us say the reason we became writers was so we wouldn't have to do math anymore

Yea that shyt gets crazy and tying this all back to this thread.... I can relate to Peter when he saw Eternity... because I remember having that same expression and feeling that same electricity when my teacher in high school taught us about Imaginary Numbers

Caught this last night, didn't even wanna finish it. Not a fan of this series. I get that it's more of a 'sitcom' type movie but I find all the jokes so very amateur and flat. Dont see the appeal at all. The characters are more annoying than they are funny and entertaining to me.

Sorry marvel brethren but I just don't get it.
If you don't get "it" then you can get the fukk out

A villain doesn't always have to be well fleshed out with understandable motivational, not every story calls for that. There are plenty of great action and sci fi films that have villains that are just obstacles for the heroes to overcome. Feige has been saying for some time that their films are about the personalities and character flaws of their heroes.

And yeah, people do tend to harp on Marvel studios about their villains more than trey do with other films. For instance many people are praising Logan as the best comic book movie of the year and that films villain is about as one note as you can get. Same goes for Deadpool, the villain is pretty bland, but nobody complains about it.

A truly great villain can can make a mediocre film stand out (Thor) and make a very good film great (The Dark Knight), but it's not as necessary as people make it seem.

Depends on who you're asking. Like @Bryan Danielson said for him, it's not a make or break and he doesn't look that deeply into it. For me, I want something. That doesn't mean every villain needs to be on the level of Joker or Hans Gruber or Hannibal Lecter, but gimme something other than a cardboard cutout who's there for target practice. There's a middle ground as well and just being in that middle ground is at least better than being not there at all. I feel like the cats in Logan operated on a middle ground. Deadpool? Meh, not even close. But at the same time, my complaints about Ronan doesn't stop me from enjoying the movie and loving it to death. On the flip side, I think Bane was very fleshed out and a good villain but the movie suffered not because of him at all and it was very meh(calm down, Nolan brigade).

i guess peter vs ego was needed for the film and the arc between the two (peter getting closure for his mom and not having a dad like he initially thought, until the yondu scene) so a guardians vs ego wld have just been a rehash of them vs ronan. ehh guess im stll upset with drax (i always tlk about the nerfing in marvel films bugs the fukk outta me)

Whats crazy is years later people can say I didnt like Red Skull, I didnt like Abomination, I didnt like Dark Elf, I didnt like blah blah blah..... but at least you remember them as character..... months later already now but I can only imagine next year or later cats will look back at Logan and Deadpool and just be like "that guy".

I mean it dont get more forgetful than that. Like not even trynna troll but I dont even know the names off hand without googling, the names of the antagonist of those 2 movies.

But did that take away from me? No, I really went and go into these movies to see the journey of the titled character and hopefully a good fight.

I wont knock fleshed out and its cool when its done that way... mainly when you have a REALLY charismatic actor that can do something with that role, but sometimes short and simple is cool too

If someone wants to rob a bank, thats great. Now I dont necessarily need that "someone wants to rob a bank because when they were young they sister got molested by their uncle and they couldnt afford the court fees to prosecute so his sister committed suicide then later he finds out his wife is fukking his next door neighbor so he snaps and turns to a life of crime and wants money to live out his wildest dreams and blah blah blah blah"

Ok if thats giving, cool but it does take away from the hero and sometimes I just wanna see what he's up to more... I mean the damn movie is titled after him

Personally, I only remember Abomination because I know who Tim Roth is and love Tim Roth and I refer to the villain from thor 2 as "the villain from Thor 2" homie didn't register with me at all.

I was talking more about in terms of the characters.

Like I just know some guy was a dikk to deadpool and was after him

and I know some guy wanted the kid in Logan.

I dont recall their names or even the names of their organization

exactly. people wouldnt care if those villains were judged as harshly as marvels. but they arent. because they arent under the marvel brand. when people talk about logan they just go :ohlawd: the action, i dont see them sayin "the movie was good, but..." and then write three paragraphs about why the villain was trash

It'd be the opposite for me tho based on the muscle (x 23), liking boyd Holbrook's performance and what he did with it and of course Rice's vile ass plan. Creating an organization to commit genocide then deciding to use kids as weapons? fukk him for that. So yeah rice and pierce and the reavers are stuck in my head man. Especially in the current climate we're in where plenty of rich guys rationalize any and everything they do all in the name of taking orders or some other stupid silly shyt. I had a strong strong dislike of their whole crew both times I saw the movie. So while I feel what you're saying it's the exact opposite for me.

I see what you're saying, and I came off with a little of that as well. I didn't like how Drax wasn't even needed throughout the whole film. His dry humor is nice, but we eventually want to see him kick ass, but so far, in both movies, he gets his ass kicked. Then we have Baby Groot, who much like Baby D.va is useless until he has to save the day (which I predicted). It felt pretty cringey at that point, luckily the movie was done so no more Groot time.

The Nebula x Gamora was the purest definition of cringe, while their fight was better than the last film, it all culminated into what I'm not calling "the naruto effect". Top tier fights with no real resolution besides becoming buddies or walking away to fight again, to become buddies again. :scust:

As for the jokes as a whole, some of them work really well, but some are just too cringe. You have to understand that its a movie directed and written by a cac who was at premieres with a live racc00n on his shoulder.
