The difference is Coogler has a "one off" contract with the MCU for Black Panther- he would have to sign up to do BP2 (that maybe something they mutually agreed on)
The Russos had multi-picture deal with the MCU- so as soon as one movie was done they immediately started working on the next one.

Pretty much, not sure what brehs don't understand about this. No way Feige is pushing BP2 until Coogler is ready.

Both could be true. Its true he signed on for one picture, but its also true they were not ready for Black Panther's success. The time spent prepared for award season may hurt with time to get ready for the sequel.

Even with all that we know Coogler already did the hard work. That was creating Wakanda, mythology, etc etc.

He'll be sharing the outline with Feige soon according to Feige. As I stated earlier it took from August to January in terms of Coogler and the other writer actually getting the script done. BP could easily be filming in 2020 if they wanted too. Especially if the budget increases.

However, they still were not prepared for BP's success.

I 1000% agree- MCU had no idea how big BP was going to be...noone did- but how does that show its head moving forward if you know that Coogler wasnt signed up for BP2 and they only wanted to work with Coogler for the sequel. You say they can film in 2020- you have to also make sure Chadwick and the other actors dont have other filming commitments- there is a good chance of that

I'm only excited about Blade .....And the Black Widow flick.She put in work through all the phases.Solo film's well deserved.

Thought there would be more emphasis placed on BP2, but I guess we have to wait for that

Winter Soldier was made in 2014 and Civil War came out in 2016

We just got IW and Endgame in back to back years

Its almost like its possible to make another good movie in 2 or 3 years.

You can't compare it to Captain America. They got rid of the director of the first Captain America movie and hired the Russos who did nothing but Marvel movies until this year. The movies were written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely who have done nothing but Marvel shyt. It's easier to get in-house Marvel guys to churn out movies than it is for someone that works on other stuff.

So producing Space Jam 2 is why its not happening.
