:mjpls: not one black actor.

No you didn't.

We know what kind of time Italian Americans are on. ESPECIALLY the ones with money like him :mjpls:

This ignorant faux militant chatter Thecoli seems to enjoy.

What project what he be working with Denzel on? Denzel is an excellent actor, doesn't mean I want him shoehorned into every movie.

I simply want great filmmakers telling great stories, don't need the color quota. Just leads to watered down product. Don't need black characters written as one dimensional tokens. Let him tell his story and let other writers and filmmakers tell theirs. The filmmakers who are capable of writing fully fleshed out "black" characters, I want to hear from them. Not necessarily what I need from Scorsese, Spielberg, or Tarantino.

Scorsese seems to go for realism in his movies. Not having any Black people around kinda hurts that.

Verisimilitude and realism are separate concepts, often confused.

And I disagree. I think it's completely realistic for people to, during the course of their lives, not encounter a significant number of non-white people outside of those in passing, on the periphery so to speak.

Even in NY, LA, DMV, maybe especially in those areas, you're only likely to encounter certain folks if you go out of your way to do so.

You can go to UCLA, Columbia/NYU, or Georgetown for example and not really run across too many non-white/non-asian people. That then factors into how social circles are formed.

I've maybe seen more black Americans walking around Tokyo for a couple days than I've seen over the course of a year living in Mountain View.

I used to work at Columbia trust me you cannot avoid Asians in particular on campus. And yes have speaking interactions with them.
Maybe some stories don't call for it but situations in general involve diversity especially modern stories. He got flack for the lack of speaking lines for the ladies in The Irishmen. He likes to have specific types of people have a voice in his movies. It's obvious.

As he should, it's his point-of-view, that's what makes his films interesting and "realistic."

I'm interested in hearing more unique and specific points-of-view, I'm not interested in shoehorning in token characters or lines in order to meet a quota. There is a big difference.
