This is one of the worst ideas I've heard in a long time.

A one hour drama prequel for one of the silliest, most slapstick half hour black comedies of all time.

:martin:

Shyt sounds like an idea in a spoof movie, not a real show in development

Like Bel Air, I will not be watching. Best of luck to all involved.

Instead, Dragon Fly Jone::laff::laff: could have been a spinoff of unadulterated FUKKERY galore that span a franchise like Big MaMa:dead::patrice::

wtf happened to Black Creativity

People don't read books anymore

What happened to creativity period? @Nero Christ is right: people don't read anymore. The showrunners, writers, producers etc are solely focused on milking IPs and updating them for modern (social media) audiences. So we'll get a young Martin that feels nothing like the 70s or 80s because the writers won't do any research (ie reading) about those eras. Instead expect Twitter-speak and 2024 sentiments from a group of young writers who likely resent the original show for being out dated or offensive.

Same playbooks over and over. Networks, streamers etc gain access to film or tv rights for something and then create a prequel/sequel show or movie, hoping it entices younger viewers to watch the original as well as the new one. Netflix is doing this with Man On Fire (the Denzel movie). Paramount is doing it with a Gladiator sequel. Just an endless cycle of slop for audiences that largely don't even care.
