With Bel-Air it worked because there was a lot of episodes that were serious. Martin didn't really have that, except the break up/make up with Gina and even then it leaned towards comedy

fresh prince fit more of a drama angle because will and his cousins were younger and it had a stronger premise (fish out of water, kid from the hood gets in trouble) so it right away fits into a YA Drama. Fresh Prince was funny but Will wasn’t A comedian turned actor like Martin, who’s show really hinged on the jokes and hijinks more than plot.

i’m not really sure where the interest in this would lie. It would be like making a King of Queens prequel Drama about Doug Heffernan
