The biggest problem most blacks had with segregation was that even though they claimed separate but equal it wasn't equal. Our people lived in worse conditions, our children received worse educations, everything that was black was second class. I believe in the concept of doing for self, had black unity and nationalism been more embraced than integration then we wouldnt have a lot of the problems we have today like the black community having x amount of billions in spending power but we can't use/keep it to better our own community, or black women being the primary spenders in a hair industry in which blacks have almost no control over. The biggest thing integration took from us was pride in having our own, begging for a seat at the men's table instead of making your own. I'm not on no back to Africa shyt I just think integration left us in a fukked up situation because we can't do anything for ourselves. Integration was about more than just blacks and whites gettin along.
