yeah his intention was to keep me walking except in another direction.. and they were right so i cooperated and sorted it out

but it was surprising as fukk to me lol, completely surprising how quickly he came out of nowhere

need faster reaction times for when the other person is more malicious

Yea thats what its about. Im assuming he put hands on you and you just turned your head to see who was grabbing you instead of spinning your body into and away from that individual the instant he touched you. By that time you look to see whos assaulting you, and ask *why are you assaulting me* its too late. People always ask, *how do i escape from a choke* A choke that they are already in. The first tip is have the reaction time to not be in it. We play that game in training a lot. A cat sits on the mat and we say hello by just rushin up and tryin to choke dude out real quick when hes not looking. Cats dont even get a lock on me because of the reaction time. You dont want to have to work to get out of something, you want to not be in it. What that man did to you is a cop/security move and im assuming you arent brolic because an onry friend with some size would have spun out of that with the swiftness. Do that next time you get hemmed up liek that.

nice. Yea, i want my grappling to get to a point where i can just start taking more striking arts for the sole purpose of either stuffing takedowns or just not being as concerned when it happens because i can easily get up or sub. Never heard of baguazhang. Will research. I think the best tools for a striker are takedown defense, and getting back to the feet. Theres no point trying to grapple someone who breaths that crap. Alot of grapplers are trash standing and after a few failed takedowns, they will be mentally broken and lost.

I'm surprised you've heard of Baji and Xingyi and not Bagua. It's a weird martial art based around palm strikes and constant changes. Different schools have different characteristics. Some are very strike heavy and some are more grappling heavy, and they have varying training methods, but all of them involve some form of circle walking training:

In application it can look very different.

The flavor I would learn would be mostly Cheng style bagua, which is largely based on grappling.

I want to get a Wavemaster bag for boxing and kicking. Best cardio you can get.

Wavemaster is garbage. A decent striker can annihilate those in a couple sessions. Get a hanging bag if you can. They're better, sturdier, and provide much better resistance for your strikes.

Black belt in Shotokan and Shorin Ryu. Studied some Kyokushin and Goju Ryu as well. Also trained in no-gi grappling(Catch, Greco Roman, BJJ)...would like to study some Judo. Also trained in Boxing and Muay Thai.

Coool. So you're pretty well rounded. Shotokan is more of an outfighting/distance style and Goju is a close range style with hard and soft components, is that correct?

Been boxing since I was a kid, I know the ins and outs of the science. Don't claim to know it all, but I damn sure know a lot. Specializes in training kids and women, you know, the forgotten ones.

Dabbled in BJJ and MMA training for a few months. Big ups to BJJ cats and MMA as a whole because :ooh::dead:

Boxing is that stuff. I recommend it as a starter MA for anyone trying to get nasty because even if you have a shytty teacher you'll probably spar, learn mental toughness, polish a few strikes very well, and develop a lil killing instinct.

Sparring is the best. You get to whoop ass, help other fighters and get your ass kicked.......all while letting off steam and learning at the same time. The best gauge of development, besides an actual match.

One thing that is nice about Karate is that a lot of schools do engage in full contact sparring. That's my gripe with most traditional martial arts schools, along with too much emphasis on forms.

Yep...the biggest mistake someone could ever make is choosing to train anywhere that doesn't have full contact sparring. It's usually those places who do nothing more but sell belts and give people false confidence going into situations they can't handle.

What's your favorite of all the styles you studied?

BTW my training routine for today was

30 minutes circle walking (different heights)
30 minutes horse---> bow stance punches for baji
30 minutes post striking for baji
30 minutes of these:

Although my Xingyi is sun style so the power mechanics and fajing is very different.
