People are so quick to complain about whites being "culture vultures" because they take black trends and run with them, but how many aspects of the culture are "ours" and how many are dictated to us or are backward adaptations to harsh conditions. These adaptations act as a vestigial organ, facilitating no positive function, only sapping our contemporary culture of its nutrients with the possibility of a rupture causing irreversible damage. It's time for surgery. you may skip this if i dont post a picture

Marlon tried to use stereotype to shyt on Lord Jamar, but how many of his performances included the very same stereotypes? Bu bu I'm known around the world, thus that means I know more than you and have a better perspective..no it doesn't if you're first priority is the gain white acceptance because you are dependent on white support for your checks

Thus why I never make excuses for the responsibility that black folks in entertainment must have...bu bu they don't get casted or get to write about the black experience...so change careers. Too many of these black folks in entertainment will promote whatever for a check, regardless whether it contributes to stereotype validating, conditioning, and promoting complacent mentality

I've yet to see a black male in a skirt of any type, in real life. All sightings have been on TV and in magazines.

I can't say the same thing living in NY.

Seeing men wearing skirts is almost like a regular occurence. Hell, as I was out today, I saw a guy wearing a skirt. I think it might of been a dress.

It's funny how the folks who say this doesn't matter have so much energy to devote to arguing about this.

For much of the world, the only image of Black people they have access to is through media. And on the flipside, Black children consume more media than any other group. How you present yourself to others matters. Successful groups control their image. Unsuccessful groups let others control their image. It shouldn't take a 40 page thread to explain how Black men wearing women's clothing is detrimental to how we are viewed by the rest of the world. If we were a majority, we could do whatever we want and justify it by controlling the narrative; because we are a persecuted minority, we can't and need to be more cognizant of the choices we make.

Mate, you're going to sit here and say that you're worried that much of the world think black people wear skirts?

Is this real?

I've never been to New York so I can't call you a liar, but somehow I feel like this is :duck:

It really isn't. The fashion industry has a huuuuuuuuuuuuuugggggggeeeee stronghold here. New York is always known for setting the trends. Sometimes for the exact wrong things...

Sometimes I feel like I'm in the Twilight zone waiting for the train.

I saw this one Puerto Rican kid walking down my block wearing an all black ensemble (*jeans, hoodie, snapback, sneakers and skirt) with a skirt that said "FUKK nikka" on it. It made me :mindblown::snoop:

This is all Kanye's fault!

Mate, honestly you have no idea how other people around the world view black Americans.

It has nothing to do with skirts. It's more to do with crime figures and subjects within rap music.

Son

So if these same admittedly influential rap figures start wearing dresses that would have an impact correct? You're proving my point without even knowing it about how people from far away aren't close enough to form opinions without relying stats and media portrayals.

Black folks are smart enough to address each problem accordingly. There's no reason to ignore the valid critique about the attempt at the feminization of black masculinity and the attempts to merge both gay and black struggle just cause folks in other countries choose to view "stats" and media portrayal exclusively for their opinions
