Like millionaire Brett Favre moving to Sumrall, Mississippi? :comeon:

That singular engineer ain’t disrupting a town’s economy.

Whats wrong with that? Why are these execs mad at employees having prosperity? Especially when the companies generating the same profits?
And if salaries are tied to cost of living. Why should google pay an employee 250k to live in bumfukk Texas?

Why should employees be entitled to a windfall? This is pretty basic economics.

lol thats now how this works. Data Centers don't require high skilled labor.

You see how you just moved that post.... Facebook has built a data center in Alabama too if I'm not mistaken.... you claim those aren't "high skilled jobs" ok fine..... but its a tell tale sign of how companies like to operate in modern times..... tax breaks beyond your wildest dreams...... low operating costs..... political leverage with the cosign to shape the surrounding area after your own image while paying your future "high skilled" employees more than half of what you would've paid them if they were in the Bay...... you don't know no better for real.... but you'll see....

If the same profit is being generated, why the execs gotta pocket it?

So are the tenants who lease them breh.. that means the workers are fukked.

Not when a lot of companies are going WFH. But yes, some tenants will have to look elsewhere because a lot of landlords are going to exit the market.

Imagine what things would look like if the "lock it up till we find a vaccine" crew got their way?

Because it’s capitalism and perfectly legal. These execs do what best for the company. Facebook has people beating down their door. Trust me I get what you’re saying. Yes fb is cutting costs while cutting some of there employees salaries. But these policies (COL wages) have been in place for awhile.

So you would expect workers moving from a low cost city to Silicon Valley to expect a raise, but not vice versa?

Commercial leases are a minimum 5 years in San Francisco man. $3-$15 per sq feet.

People are happy about this but what makes you think these companies won't look outside the US? The whole WFH thing could backfire for a lot of people if companies start getting crafty and you know how crafty they can get when it comes to saving money.

Hire a developer in Canada 30% cheaper get the same caliber of work.

data centers are placed in cites with low environmental/disaster risk and close proximity to major metro areas. Please stop while you’re behind.

they can track an IP address of a VPN server to wherever a user places it.

go one step further, an enterprising technician can have a whole bank of raspberry pis or vpn server VM's just for his relatives or friends to have access to a local local san francisco residential IP address. unless facebook does surprise home visits, people will finesse their way around this policy.

quite a risk when termination of employment and potential garnishing of wages is on the line. Most people don’t play like that with their jobs and will just take the paycut
