it's a bomb. you don't get excited about a mini profit for a comic book movie in 2020 no matter what the budget was. That piece of dogshyt Suicide Squad made a ton, WB and DC definitely expected Harley to be a box office draw. don't sugarcoat it.

The decision makers who felt it was NOT necessary to include Harley Quinn’s name in the original title and promotion of this movie...should all be fired/demoted.

WB/DC expected Suicide Squad numbers or near it and it tanked. Sonic ran in and took all DC's rings and put BOP on some major spikes....
On paper, maybe, just maybe it can break even, but breaking even in this age is a bomb to studios. 200 mill on a 85-100 million dollar budget isn't going to allow a greenlight for follow-up sequels.

Stop. It was not expecting Suicide Squad numbers. You really smoking some crack if you really believe that. It's not a summer release. He doesn't have a blockbuster budget. It's R-rated, and WB publicly expected 45-55M which that in itself STILL a low number and not some ridiculous "Suicide Squad" numbers. STOP the dumb shyt. Just say you don't like the movie instead of making up shyt.
I gave the movie a C+, a couple changes in the narrative and casting choices could have turned this around.
Back to the numbers, they don't add up to success in any way, shape, or form. You want to get mad at someone, get mad at WB for fukking up the whole project by letting Robbie take the reigns and coming in 4 years too late after SS....
Deadpool is in the same lane as Birds of Prey, slapstick/anti-hero and that put up Lebron numbers....
Here is an example of success:
Deadpool...budget 60 mill first week 132 mill with a total run of a 700 mill plus BO take.....
BOP might hit 200....movies want to see a 4-5x return, not an even split. BOP has to hit 300 million to do a 3x....not gonna happen...movie is dead....
Again, Deadpool and Joker which had only a 40M budget were ANOMALIES. Deadpool had one of the best MARKETING campaigns ever in modern cinema. Joker thrived because of the hype and controversy behind the hype pushed it. Birds of Prey had neither and grossed no different from any AVERAGE R-rated action movie would of grossed in its first week.
You are basing it off Deadpool is lunacy.

The Joker shyt really got these posters heated too. In the Oscars thread all night hoping it wouldn't win awards, it was sad to watch

Joker making a bil is shocking, but i doubt the higher ups at WB/DC are taking much solace now that the character they probably saw a franchise for is making pennies. just b/c one did well, doesn't mean they're fine with the other one underperforming. they need both. what other franchises does WB even have right now? Magical Beasts and Where to Find Them?
I'm sure the people at Disney were thrilled when Last Jedi made $1.5 bil, and just shrugged at Solo making hundreds of millions less than they expected... (they weren't.)

Numbers don't lie, came out in the dead of winter, still lit the box office up. Marketing sunk BOP, if Deadpool was named: "Wade aka Deadpool and His Cool Friends Go On An Adventure ", it would be a box office dud too.
HQ should have been a year after SS, made PG-13, and dropped in the summer. WB/DC isn't going to be risking anything for a sequel or an all-female ensemble cast not named Wonder Woman.....
