This has been the argument about Kendrick Lamar for the last decade or so.

You can find threads from 10 years ago saying Kendrick is getting overrated praise.

I'm a JAY Z fan but he's not untouchable. I don't think he has an album anything like GKMC or TPAB - and I wouldn't say he's overrated at this point.

Kendrick is no where near Hov’s level.

Not as wealthy a businessperson, but I wouldn't say he isn't at JAY's level.

Look I'm from the South and love Kast and Stacks but enough is enough. This started online a few years ago and people have just been parroting shyt they heard on Twitter or wherever else and running with it. He's cold but he should not be mentioned with Jay/Nas Pac or even Face. Stop it.

People have been saying this a lot longer than a few years. I think at a minimum you could say it started after Em's verse on Til I Collapse - but Stacks has enough incredible verses on enough critically acclaimed albums to say that he can be in the same coversation as JAY, Nas, Tupac and Scarface. Particularly Pac, because he has a bigger catalogue.

Technically Thought and 3 Stacks are better but Jay-Z held down entire albums by HIMSELF while its becoming more and more apparent by the year that Andre was leaning on Big Boi heavily. Thought also had Dice Raw and Malik B for a lot of his prime but he’s held down solo projects himself.

I’m not putting 3 Stacks over Jay when all Dre had to do was hold down half the verses on albums. Black Thought i’d put above Jay on a technical level and even though i’m a huge Kendrick fan he’s been anointed as a top 5 all time rapper wayyyyyyyy too soon. Putting him above Nas, Jay, Common, Black Thought or Ghostface is blasphemy

Andre 3K and Black Thought have some of the best rap verses of all time. They are legendary status a solo record wouldn't change that.

There’s no proof whatsoever Andre can hold down a solo album rapping by himself. There’s not even proof he can rap three verses by himself.

Hov has proven over and over AND over that he can. Classic albums he held down damn near dolo. That holds weight whether you want to admit it or not.
