I just rarely ever hear him talk about Nas like that, publicly. Of course he's a hip-hop head, and he listens to and studies albums. But he rarely talks about Nas the way that he speaks of Thought, or Dre. But you are also right in that a lot of times Nas doesn't come up.
It's just that Nas ALWAYS comes up from those in the media that are huge Nas fans. It always comes across to me that he listens to Nas, but not a current fan. I know he loves Illmatic, It Was Written and Lost Tapes, like most of Philly.
I never said he made better music than Pac or Big. I was STRICTLY talking about the statement of saying it’s “too soon” for him to be in anyone’s top 5 if someone chooses (because all lists are subjective anyway). He’s not in my top 5, but I’m not gonna argue with someone who has him in theirs. I DEFINITELY won’t say the reason he’s not in mine is because he hasn’t done it long enough. Like I said, his debut album was 13 years ago and he has 5 studio albums. He’s 37 years old. He’s not some new artist anymore nor a young kid.

Jays discography is solid but not fw with Dot, Jays a better rapper but he’s not always consistent in his verses. Can’t even name a hot verse on BP3 like that lol. Jay got more bangers but so what, even Jays banger aren’t like timeless like his peers from the 00s. Only ones that still get played in the spot like that are the ones with Ye, we not bumping Money Ain’t A Thang, Can I Get, Dirt off Your shoulder in the club fam in 2024
