The Witch and the Beast Vol 10
Still setting the stage for the fight between the fight between the Witches vs the Order. Honestly
@LordDeathwatch got be honest there is so much with the manga that it does so well. Great action panels, great art, intriguing characters, super clever + unique magic system and some top tier world building.
Regarding the anime. Honestly if they can deliver on the voice acting and art I think it can do a solid job. And just keep the animation good enough in the vein of somewhere between Helck and Ragna Crimson animation level it can bring a lot of fans to the series.
Director and studio don't give me much confidence. But at the same time there aren't any warning signs at the same time. So take that how you will. Even with an adaptation by a top tier studio idk if I can confidently say it could match the manga even in that scenarios. The manga is that good
. Regarding volume 10
The kid being a forbideen instrument is fukking terrifying. So basically it consumes magic of those around them. And the craziest thing is according to Ashaf its possible there is no upper limit . Having Guideau to watch kid logically makes sense. But the issue is that she is basically still learning to be human.
We turn to Matt and Karl where they info drop on us that a witch can live to at most 200 years old. However Angela is able to get away from this end by being able to swap bodies. The title of eternal witch is deserved. But if one person can practice magic for all eternity its scary to think how far they can go in enhancing their craft. We also turn to them going to the base of the Executioners where the talk about the 3 saints. Healer, defender and seer. These witches are considered the forbidden enemy. We have seen the executioners as an antagonist to this series, but this threat of Angela and these witches is to scary according to them. Lets see if they are not as pure cut as Karl says.
Ashaf gets confirmation that the kid will be retrieved in 3 days? Just the lack of information here is concerning but not much to think of beyond that. We see that Ashaf ends up giving help and a notice to Owent since he had a bad feeling that she and her sister Favell would be in danger. Good thing Lucy was there to help. Ashaf give them a crafty tool to help them. Basically the magic key they had turned their house into a labrinyth. This feels like more so a tool for stalling and that proves true.
Ashaf always has his insurances and he sent Dunward and Oscar to help retrieve Favell and her sister. And talk about a close one for the girls. As strong as the enemy force was Dunward as the main threat you see followed by Oscar is a fukking scary combination. Oscar has a nice moment in Favell able to unlock her voice to heal Lucy. It still begs the question who comes after them.
Meanwhile the enemies that attacked Johan didn't seem particular but they caused some lasting damage to him. Could it be possible even though they are weak they can cripple undeads and they explicitly targeted Johan? Meanwhile we start to see the kid warming up to Guideau. The fact that Guideau had no nightmares during their first night with the kid means there is some good from Guideau's end as well. I expect Guideau will end up having a hard time saying good bye to the kid whenever the author's health gets better again.
