I had the NES Max strictly for track and field 2. there was NO WAY u could play that game without it. u can't spin the d-pad in a circle to throw the hammer like how u could with the NES Max. and when u had to use turbo for swimming or running, no amount of button mashing could fill ur meter like just holding down those turbo buttons :ahh:

btw, I NEVER threw my NES max controller or SNES controllers. SNES controllers were not as sturdy as NES controllers. neither was the NES Max. I wasn't no dummy there. plus SNES games weren't as frustrating as their NES counterparts.

oh I loved the max,.....
the turbo button on the max.
was the best turbo button out of the controllers to me, on side scrollers.
I totally agree the snes controllers were not as sturdy.
those were the first controllers I actually took apart, and fixed.
if they suffered wear and tear, to the soft bottons, and pads.

nobody played with a cotdamn wiffle ball or a wiffle bat breh, breh.
nikkaz had real baseballs, and Eastman's in the hood, back in the day.

I still got my Eastman, breh.
I found that shyt in rainbow beach baseball lot at like eight years old.
easily the best item I found in the park, ever.

I remember being introduced to mortal kombat at a pizza hut by my crib that had a broken game console where u could add credits for free cuz u could lift up the board and push the button inside.

that being said, after playing that for a summer, and when I found out it was coming out for SNES (which is what I had at the time), I was extremely disappointed when I got that joint. not only was there no blood, but the graphics were worse, and some of the fatalities were different :damn:

I did not take to mortal combat till the later ported versions, on the SNES.
plus, I don't like that engine or playing it.
as i am a Street fighter guy.
plus, I liked turtles way more than Mortal Kombat, too.

You had to be really skilled to beat games back then. In fact, there are games I have to rev myself up to play, because i knew if I didn't beat it, I'd have to start over. lol I know everyone here had to yell, "Man this game is cheating" at least once or twice.

fukking kids get stuck on a puzzle or obstacle and go right to the internet to read how to solve it, or worse, they pay extra to make it easier or bypass their issues. No respect for these c*nts.

I don't think it's only a kid problem. When my friends and were younger we'd tough the hard sections in games without help but now that we're grown some of us don't got the patience for that shyt.

I remember a puzzle on UC3 had me like :patrice: for a few minutes and I jumped online to find out how to get passed it because I cba'd to figure it out myself. :dead:

Back in my day if you showed up to the arcade and put your quarters on the machine to play the winner you better have known what the fukk you were doing. Didn't matter if it was MK, SF or Killer Instinct. If you tried to win a game by doing leg sweeps all match you would get harassed right there in front of your parents. The arcade had kids contemplating suicide. You better have memorized those moves and combos or you would get you ass whooped in the game and outside the game for wasting people's time.

If you're from South Florida and you went to that arcade in the Swap Shop in Sunrise in the mid 90s you know exactly what I'm talking about. That shyt was like a prison.
Back in the arcade you had to make sure your game was tight. That moment you reached a round 3 against a worthy opponent is when shyt got real. Palms get sweaty, heart starts racing, you knew you had to do whatever it takes, but couldn't "cheese"

Lives were destroyed in those places man.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
So I'm watching this kid play sound shapes on the vita for the first time and he is absolutely horrible at this shyt :what:

Kid is about 12, at 12 I was finishing resident evil with CHRIS.

All this making games accessible to everyone is giving these kids a pass for being TRASH. I'm almost tempted to recommend ninja gaiden sigma to this kid so he can just get a TASTE of what it was like.

To be fair this might be his first time playing any console game, but fukk that. I played TMNT when I was FIVE.
that's cause they skipping straight to the NFL now... they coming up with HD graphics, a million buttons and 3D gameplay on their first or second system

we went from atari 1 button 1 stick, to nintendo adding a button, to genesis another button, to snes with 4, to n64 with 5 or 6 plus 3d............ etc etc etc

so yea at 12 i was already a seasoned vet cause at 5 it was easy as shyt to master the basics of mario and tmnt the arcade

I don't recall Double Dragon 2 being that hard. Actually, IIRC it was the easiest of all those Double Dragon games. Double Dragon 1 was hard as fukk, as was 3. And the SNES one was godly and gotdamn difficult too. 2 was a breeze though. Me and my crew used to run thru that game like 1nce a weekend at least.
It was the easiest, but kids today would have nightmares of BOLO

:wtf: these kids these days.. I was rocking heavy boots in the water temple at 9 years old! Nikkas had to READ playing ff and use their dexterity back then.

Fam, I beat the Water Temple with NO internet and NO book....
Same with Final Fantasy 6 and 7 when I was young...again...NO book, no internet.

These lil ADD as games ruining kids critical thinking skills mayne.

A lot of these games these days pretty much hold your hand throughout. Hell, in some of em you might as well be playing cinematics that are several hours long with very little of your actual input needed. Just press a button here or there, follow this single path, shoot a lit up people. FPS single player is definitely guilty of this shyt. It's no longer like say....Duke Nukem 3d where you're actually all in the game and can find secret paths and rooms and shyt, the game rails you along :scusthov:

Growing up in Brownsville the rule was NO GRABBING and if you got grabbed you were then able to get your grab back:mjlol: so lets say its round three and yall both low on health and you grab to win the match if you didnt apologize and give up your character it turned from video game Street Fighter to real life Street Fighter and nyggas aint going to arcades alone so you getting jumped over 25 cents and a grab:yeshrug:

I'll never forget the first time I went to chinatown arcade I thought I was NICE being the big fish in a small pond kicking ass in brownsville but when I started swimming in the ocean with REAL SHARKS that shyt had me questioning any and everything I ever believed in:mjcry:

I was like "yall nikkas are corny grabbing that shyt is weak play me without grabbing":stopitslime:

*Proceed to get worked without any grabs or special moves just plain fukking spacing and fundamentals*

Chinatown Fair:sas1::sas2:

I learned then if you aint playing against the best you aint never going to get any better

I actually became friends with some of the heavyweights (I never seen someone dominate like Justin Wong during the MVC2 days:whoo:)
