The arcade scene was crazy because the arcades had games first and they had better graphics than what would be on consoles. It's sad that the arcade is a wasteland now.

I remember being introduced to mortal kombat at a pizza hut by my crib that had a broken game console where u could add credits for free cuz u could lift up the board and push the button inside.

that being said, after playing that for a summer, and when I found out it was coming out for SNES (which is what I had at the time), I was extremely disappointed when I got that joint. not only was there no blood, but the graphics were worse, and some of the fatalities were different :damn:

man, I used to beat the shyt outta mike tyson on mike tyson's punchout, but whenever I try playing it on IOS or on my daughter's PSP NES emulator I cannot get past bald bull for some reason. I think something about the timing of the controls is slightly off.

How often do you see broken controllers now? Nintendo built those old school controllers titanium tough because they knew they were going to get smashed. Those old school megaman or contra games weren't a joke.

my NES was in the basement. and the floor was concrete down there. how I never shattered a controller is beyond me, cuz I certainly hurled them at the ground many a times.

I had to do insane amounts of all types of money making ideas to get videogames and consoles.
as my birthday is mostly on thanksgiving, and Christmas is only a month away.
plus, I had parents that don't pay any attention to what you want.
so, if you ask for a NES, you get a segamaster system.

I immediately put my little Christmas money and other monies gathered from nefarious child acts together and got a NES, asap.

so, I totally know what you mean.

getting games was always an uphill battle.
which lead, to doing what a kid from a good background, and a two parent home should not be out doing.

oh, I forgot to mention at the time, I only got $1 a week for an allowance. so if I NEVER spent a penny all year, I could hopefully to purchase 1 game on my own. and pray that my parents help me out with the sales tax if it cost $50 retail.

when, I got emulators, on my old lumia.
it took a while to get my timing back.
I had issues just like when I was a kid playing punchout for the first time.

I was stuck on hippo, losing to tiger, losing to sandman, and getting smashed on by supermacho and definitely getting beat the fukk up by Tyson.
eventually I got my skills and timing back and flipped it.
yet, it was like I never played the game as a kid, eye coordination-wise on touch screen.
while, still knowing how to beat the game.
shyt was frustrating as all hell.
yet, just as rewarding to go through all over again.
I felt like a kid again!
trying to beat that game, as an adult on emulators.

the snes controller was not as sturdy but still just as hardbody as the nes controller.
only controller I had that fizzled out.
was the NES MAX, as the cord shorted.

other than that,...the standard controllers were indestructible.

if I you would have had a NES ADVANTAGE.
imo, the best joystick ever made.....

I don't think i ever saw anyone ever throw that.
as, it would have been an item.
you, had to go through to much to acquire.

wow,..
I know you had severe feelings of want, as a kid.

I know as I had a ten dollar weekly, allowance.
plus, severe feelings of want.

with friends who got one hundred dollars a week for an allowance.
which is why I get my kid everything she asks for.
to cut down the severe feelings of want she may have.
as I know what that leads to.
on all accounts from the parental relationship and how they go about life later on.

I had the NES Max strictly for track and field 2. there was NO WAY u could play that game without it. u can't spin the d-pad in a circle to throw the hammer like how u could with the NES Max. and when u had to use turbo for swimming or running, no amount of button mashing could fill ur meter like just holding down those turbo buttons :ahh:

btw, I NEVER threw my NES max controller or SNES controllers. SNES controllers were not as sturdy as NES controllers. neither was the NES Max. I wasn't no dummy there. plus SNES games weren't as frustrating as their NES counterparts.
