I hate being harsh but i look at these kids like :aicmon: you can't figure THAT out?
At that age we were more inclined to explore and try things. I guess with games spelling everything out for you the mind gets lazy. We didn't have anywhere near the choice they have. If we had a game and didn't like it, we had no game. They have an absurd amount of alternatives to go to if it gets tedious.

Yeah, kids these days have emulators, downloadable games on their phones, and everything else. I wish I had any kind of emulator when I was growing up. Kids these days have too many distractions.

downloading games that are a megabyte for an emulator that i had my parents spend 50-70 buck for makes me feel like an a$$hole :sadcam:

disagree...they still have competitive spirit, but the games have changed like you said...we had fighting games, they Farmville, candy crush, and shyt like that....and with the games being more social media focused, there's no need for them to sit in front of tv with a controller....hell, it's a reason there aren't a lot of arcades anymore...

the lack of arcades is the worse.

like seriously,....
we went out as kids to search for new arcades as late as twenty plus.
shyt, I made my way in college at arcades on street fighter alpha and marvel.

we gambled at twenty bucks a game, from dennis for games in the chi.
all the way to east lansing in msu.

on top of that, I was the blockbuster regional champ.
who set the national record in nba jams at 96-4, on the most difficult setting.

I still own any room in street fighter on any game system and don't practice at all anymore.

nikkaz, nowadays young and old can't consistently pull off a fireball.
let alone an alpha.

shyt is depressing as hell, to see.
what happened to trying to beat Zelda?
what happened to beating a game and being so good you did not lose any energy?

nikkaz wouldn't last one round with sandman, supermacho.
let alone mike Tyson, on the OG game.

me and my neph was just talkin bout this....

you give these kids today a nes wit ninja gaiden, ikari warriors, ghosts and goblins theyd have a heart attack....

even better give them an emulator.
where they can't feel the buttons.
so, you can't super jump on basic games like supermario I, II, and three.

or even watch how they never thought to do a back jump.
watch how frustrated they get.

shyt is hilarious....

Yeah, but when technology caught up, I was :eat: like all the other gamers on playing old school games. Getting games is far too easy these days. The lack of arcades and associating with people in there also breaks down social skill, too.

Surprisingly dope thread.

I've talked about this before on here in a similar thread about sports and how there is this there are no losers bullshyt. My kids are gonna learn to win and then do the shimmy like Ali ".

My 5 yeAr old beat super Mario bros and super luigi U by himself. He's hLf way through donkey kong tropical freeze which is hard as fukk. When the wife's not around I let him play ghosts and metal gear and he's pretty damn good . I'm teaching them to be competitive and not be a little bytches. He would always start crying at first saying he couldnt beat it and you got damn right all I said was "I'm not beating it for you keep playing and practice. He hated me at first but the look of joy and satisfaction when he conquered that shyt was :to:

My 3 year old can beat most levels on Mario as we'll.

I had a similar experience with my daughter.
I pulled out the snes for her back when she was like five.
just to see, if she could figure out street fighter the turbo edition with the ten star power up.

she actually took to it, and got okay for her age.
a few years later,...
we go over a family friend's house and they have street fighter.

I was proud father watching his daughter who made it.
when, she was killin' every kid in the room on street fighter on the wii.

she even made this little boy cry, over the L's.

I was dumb glad.

mad social skills are lost when you not beating unknown white cats and nikkaz up over moving your quarter.
dennis for games was a madhouse.
shyt was like the footclan hideout in the first turtles live action movies.

I really miss, the arcade.

nostalgia hits hard when you playing old 2D games :to:

Problem is, with the saved states on emulators, it makes games too damn easy and never build any kind of skill. No sense of accomplishment anymore.

Real talk, RPGs taught me to be very good at handling money in real life. Plus the old school platformers taught me the rigors and the basics of being a great gamer.

shyt buying games showed you how to get, save and keep money.
Zelda was seventy dollars, my dude.
Zelda two was ninety dollars.

Back in my day if you showed up to the arcade and put your quarters on the machine to play the winner you better have known what the fukk you were doing. Didn't matter if it was MK, SF or Killer Instinct. If you tried to win a game by doing leg sweeps all match you would get harassed right there in front of your parents. The arcade had kids contemplating suicide. You better have memorized those moves and combos or you would get you ass whooped in the game and outside the game for wasting people's time.

If you're from South Florida and you went to that arcade in the Swap Shop in Sunrise in the mid 90s you know exactly what I'm talking about. That shyt was like a prison.

arcades were madhouse back in the day.

now, they have games that prepare kids to be habitual videogame casino gamblers.
all that candy crush and swipe slash shyt is straight out the casino.

I would not say that.
it is a new learning curve to playing nes emulator games on touch screens.
