This is the most pro-police post I’ve seen on here in a long time straight up police academy training babble that’s beyond shameful.Cops do not prioritize de-escalation in the best of situations. Once you get out of your car at a traffic stop you're basically dog food. I'm sure every police officer remembers the dash cam footage of that cop who was killed because he continuously tried to deescalate a traffic stop with an old cac who eventually delivered to him a slow and painful death, then drove off. When the cac was arrested and asked why he killed the officer he said; "because he let me." I believe that cop had disciplinary actions on file for escalation too.
Whether you agree or not, the onus is on the citizen to deescalate, not the paid professional. It's not right but you can protest this absurdity at your own peril.
“Why did you kill that unarmed black man?”
“Don’t you remember that dash cam footage from 1994?! The citizen is supposed to deescalate not me!”
Any police officer with the mindset you described needs to be stripped of their badge and made to pack boxes, which is usually the only thing they were qualified to do before becoming a cop.
