This is well out of my area of expertise but i believe the cops can cuff you for everyones safety whether you are being arrested or not.I don't see this cop being able to prove the man tried to elude him, which would have gave him the right to arrest him. He even asked the cop what the issue was, but all the cop could say was he wasn't following directions. Plus, once the key is out of the ignition, or the motor is turned off, it's to late to issue a traffic citation. It's too late to even issue a DWI at that point.
i know. that is more reason they need to follow the state rules at the shop. most people wont know on their own how much tint is allowed because it's so different everywhere. It varies by state.
I didn't eitherNot going watch this....
It's right in your face. This is 100% speculation and doesn’t appear anywhere in that video.
The discussion about how we arrived there is fine but once you begin wrestling with an officer and grabbing for sh*t.
Its usually a wrap.
I implore all my brothas to follow instructions when pulled over.
Don't become a hashtag on principle.
I agree 100%, at the same time the police evokes a fight or flight response out of people and makes them do irrational things. All rich and fulfilling information
Now...back to MY question...
Why did this man exit his vehicle upon being pulled over? I know you think cars are the devil or whatever, so you probably don't have much experience in this space, but as a young man, my folks ie. my Father, and Uncles and older cousins, all imparted upon me some simply advice when being pulled over.
COME TO A FULL STOP
TURN OFF THE ENGINE
TURN OFF ALL MUSIC
TURN ON THE LIGHTS IN THE CAR
DO NOT MAKE ANY SUDDEN MOVES...NOT EVEN FOR YOUR WALLET, UNTIL THEY SPECIFICALLY ASK YOU FOR LICENCE AND REGISTRATION
DROP THEM WINDOWS
DO NOT ANTAGONIZE THE COP
DO NOT SAY SHlT. SAY ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
Exiting the car for ANY reason gives a police officer, whose life may or may NOT be in danger, a reason to panic, or assume the worst, rather than the best.
We can criticize, punish, and remove police officers. This MUST be done because while not all cops are bad, there are too many bad cops in police forces all around this country.
HOWEVER...this dude put himself in a situation where the Officer is wondering "Why the fukk this man made a move?" "Is there something in the car?" "Does he have warrants or something?"
And again, I live in NYC, so all this is bare basics for me. In the South? The Deep South? I'm wondering what could possess this man to exit his vehicle for what could have realistically just been a routine traffic stop.
In those rare situations, there has to be something already going on, like a domestic dispute, etc...This is well out of my area of expertise but i believe the cops can cuff you for everyones safety whether you are being arrested or not.
Not complying and resisting being cuffed are bad decisions imo.
Same cops too scared to kill actual mass murderers who murdered a school full of children are super quick to kill people during traffic stops
Where's that energy when its actually needed?
Obviously, this dude made all the wrong decisions but, this cop could have easily diffused the situation. You know......what he's paid to do. He could have called for backup. He would have never took it that far with a white professional cac. He was immediately looking to murder when his job is to take people in, not be executioner.
Negged for clarity.Cops do not prioritize de-escalation in the best of situations. Once you get out of your car at a traffic stop you're basically dog food. I'm sure every police officer remembers the dash cam footage of that cop who was killed because he continuously tried to deescalate a traffic stop with an old cac who eventually delivered to him a slow and painful death, then drove off. When the cac was arrested and asked why he killed the officer he said; "because he let me." I believe that cop had disciplinary actions on file for escalation too.
Whether you agree or not, the onus is on the citizen to deescalate, not the paid professional. It's not right but you can protest this absurdity at your own peril.
Good ol’ black victim blaming right on time
This situation was completely avoidable.
