i give credit to Nolan da gawd for having the balls to try and turn one of the weakest, most pathetic superhero stories into something interesting.
getting rid of kryptonite is a step in the right direction even if fanboys don't like it. it's necessary to save this awful franchise
the dynamic of superman being a god on earth but a weakling relative to ppl in his home planet is dope too.
A little bit more details about the story (don't know if its already posted but I aint reading through 25 pages to find out)
1.Supermans birth name is Kal-El, and in this film he was born illegally on his home world. Why? Because his was a natural birth, without genetic manipulations to dictate his role in Kryptonian society, which is mandatory on that planet.
2.Theres no Kryptonite. Fanboys are freaking out in message boards all over the net right now over this one, and they need to chill a bit. First of all, just because the glowing green rocks dont make an appearance in this movie, that doesnt mean Kryptonite doesnt exist its just not being used this time around. Which is good, because it can be an overused plot device and removes the need to find other, more interesting ways to challenge Superman. Besides maybe theres no Kryptonite because that would require the planet Krypton to have already exploded, and just maybe that didnt happen yet. What if Kal-El was sent away from Krypton to save him because of his illegal birth status, and the planet is dying but not totally gone yet? What if Kryptons destruction comes later?
3.Clark wanders the world doing super-deeds, and reporter Lois Lane gets very interested. Part of his journey of self discovery involves traveling the world and looking for answers about his destiny, to decide what hes meant to do with his powers. Along the way, of course, hes going to help people using his powers, and thats bound to attract some press attention. So Lois will start looking for this mysterious super-samaritan, and eventually shell find him (hes the one in the big red cape).
4.Supermans iconic costume is actually underwear! Kind of. Turns out, its the suit that Kryptonians would wear underneath their armor in the films trailer and promotional images, Zod and his comrade-in-arms Faora wear armor, and apparently the armor fits over the top of body suits like Supermans. Superman, however, lacks armor for his suit, since he wasnt genetically modified to serve as a warrior, and since he was shipped off to his foster family on Earth.
5.The Fortress of Solitude is apparently a Kryptonian spaceship hidden underground on Earth. Clark will eventually locate it, and this will be how he learns about his true Kryptonian origins. Why is there a Kryptonian ship buried on Earth? Who sent it? It seems Clarks biological father, Jor-El, sent the ship for some reason, but thats not guaranteed.
6.General Zod comes to Earth looking for Kal-El. While its not clear exactly what fate (if any, yet) has befallen the planet Krypton, Zod and Faora are tracking down Superman, and the fact our hero was illegally birthed on his home world might factor into Zods reasons for trying to track him down.
7.Superman actually negotiates with General Zod. Yes, while its inevitable that theyll get down to a big, bad super-brawl, apparently at first Superman is willing to go to Zods spaceship and discuss terms with him. For some reason, Superman also brings Lois Lane to the ship with him, which cant possible be a good thing for her. The negotiations obviously wont go well, and it looks like theres some fighting on the spaceship before the battle spreads to Earth.
What did christopher nolan have to do with it?i give credit to Nolan da gawd for having the balls to try and turn one of the weakest, most pathetic superhero stories into something interesting.

What did christopher nolan have to do with it?
sounds very familiarI can't even front that new trailer sold me more than the other ones. The action looks on point and it seems Zack, Goyer and Nolan have taken concepts from Superman 1 + 2 and just put them together for "Man of Steel" as far as using the Home Planet origin and having Superman battle General Zod. My only thing is "Returns" set the bar so low that I think even if this is decent people might overrate it.
I agree with everything but the spiderman comment other than part 2 there hasn't been a good movie. And I am not sure the new spidey was the boxoffice juggernaut studio execs hopedSure any improvement over "Returns" is a welcomed one but it's crazy there hasn't been a good Superman film since I was a kid. Also as I said earlier in this thread, if the Film is good everyone will credit Nolan but if it sucks it will be Zack's fault and I'm seeing that already with the response from the trailer. But I'm there, I grew up on Superman comics and cartoons. He's probably the most iconic Superhero ever. Because they dropped the ball on his films after Reeves he sadly has fallen off and Batman and Spiderman have really taking the movie crowns. I hope "Man of Steel" can bring him back to form. But really good trailer.
Read reality's post again and tell me it doesn't read like he's giving chris nolan 100% creative credit for basically speaking to WB when that should be goyer and the other nolan he should be thanking. And u can't use the term "his baby" when he's just a producer with 0 creative input. Is boardwalk empire mark wahlberg's baby? When he was filming the Dark Knight Rises, David Goyer went up to Nolan with this Superman idea he had. When Nolan read the idea, I guess he was the one that ran to Warner to pitch it to them.
Also, being THE producer pretty much makes it his baby
Since everybody wanted Nolan to direct this why didnt he? Though i think Superman will be good i would have liked to see it in his vision.
I wouldnt, zod would have probably been some angry disgruntled banker from wallstreet or an undocumented immigrant from AfghanistanSince everybody wanted Nolan to direct this why didnt he? Though i think Superman will be good i would have liked to see it in his vision.
grammar is a bit off but I am guessing u are saying iron man stole spidey's crown and ran with it?Spidey lost the crown that Tony Start made LEGENDARY. .
